As it's one of only two dedicated hobby shops in Billings, Jim's Junction is a place I've always wanted to provide an opportunity to earn my business.
But every time I've gone in there, I've instantly regretted doing so and have questioned why I've bothered to give them another chance. I'll not make that mistake again.
Between the employees' overly loud right-wing conversations, their lack of professional hospitality, and a general crossed-armed harumphing projection of unwelcomeness, it's not at all a comfortable atmosphere and I'm not compelled to spend a single dime there.
This is unfortunate, because they actually do have an impressive selection of kits. But this just serves to present another problem: Nearly all of them are overpriced to the point of gouging, if not utter ridiculousness.
Case in point: they have Trumpeter's 1/32 F-14B kit on sale for $229. The same kit is available online at Hobbylinc for $113. It can be found on eBay for $129 to $179.
To support a local business, I would understand if the kit was priced at $130 or even $150, and I would consider paying such an amount at Central Hobbies - where the employees are warm and helpful - but doubling the price is ridiculous. Frankly, it's insulting.
Owners: If you don't want people in your store, close your storefront and sell your inventory online. If you only want to cater to scale railroaders, liquidate your other kits and drop the façade of being anything but a private model railroading club.
But if your doors are open and you want to sell to the public, you'd do well to stop acting as though patrons nothing more than annoyances. You might find that business would pick up if you acted like you appreciate it.

Read moreHow I wish I would have read the reviews for this store before placing my online order..
Placed an order for two items that were listed as "in stock" and waited for two weeks for the items to ship, they didn't.
Gave the store a call to ask about the items and when they would ship and I was told that they in fact were not in stock and that they "may" be in the next delivery they receive, waited another week to call again.
Was told this time that the items are on a backlog and so I requested a refund instead and I was told they would start the refund process for me.
Waited two more weeks for the refund to arrive and it never did.
Called back again and asked about my refund and was told "I don't see a refund having been issued, let me go ahead and start the refund process now."
It's been 10 more days and still no refund in sight.
At this point it's not even about the money, it's just about warning others with this review so this doesn't happen to anyone else.
Do not enjoy leaving a bad review whatsoever but I called the store numerous times and waited 2 months (1 month of the product, 1 month for the refund)
I think I was very patient and understanding but this seems like a complete lack of care on the store owner's...

Interesting how quickly you’re able to respond—now that the issue is public. I waited nearly a month, sent several emails, and heard nothing. But the moment I posted on Google, suddenly there's time to reply.
Let’s be clear: the refund you issued was incomplete. I had to chase it down myself, and even then, instead of an apology, I get accused and blocked!!!??? That’s not just unprofessional—it’s petty.
You don’t need to worry about me placing future orders. There are plenty of stores that offer the same products with actual customer service. I’m requesting that you delete my account from your website, and I’ll be expecting the remaining refund of USD 72.82 without more DRAMA!.
If professionalism wasn’t part of the package, you should’ve said so from the...
