Back Door Deli — Restaurant in Hamilton

I use to go here a lot. Until I found a clump of hair in my macaroni salad. And commented on one of their posts so they would know. And instead of apologizing or anything they just deleted the comment. So I will not be going back. Hence, the 2 stars. EDIT: 07/19/2021 I tried giving them another shot. They were not busy at all so there is really no excuse for this! I got half a turkey club with sprouts and a couple things from the bakery. I get home and no sprouts on my sandwich but I know they charged me for it. Not to mention they used miracle whip and not mayonnaise which I did not ask for. Absolutely disappointed I thought maybe this time would be better but I can't ever seem to have a good experience here. Baked goods are wonderful but not good enough for me to ever...

The food here, in my experience is very good. They make everything fresh, from scratch. This visit i didn't eat- but went in to get a cake. I've had cakes from here before and they're pretty good. The cake-sponge recipes make a heavy cake- like a pudding cake. The cakes (in my experience) are 3 layers; each layer 1 to 1.5 inchs tall (i measured)... and [guessing] 10+ inch rounds, so pretty big, and unexpectedly heavy. Their buttercream frosting is great. The people who work here are really great! This particular cake has some cons. It tasted okay but a couple of the layers were way over-baked, as evidenced by the almost burned top, bottom and edges. For just about $70.00 we expect more. Yes, you read that...

My fiance and I just ate two horrible, over-priced, microwaved, sandwiches for 20 bucks. One of then claimed to be a gyro that was too tough to bite through and the other was a chicken pepperoni with marinara that was supposed to be on white, but came on rye. The bread, which was made in house, was way too doughy and turned into mush with the marinara. Also, it was the only thing on the menu without olives on it, but they put them on there anyway... I'm in a bad mood now. My fiance loves gyros. They are her favorite thing in the world. This is what brought us in and she was so disappointed. Please save yourself...
