Hannaford — Local services in Hampstead

After a few bad experiences here I still visit because it’s near my home. The prices are a little higher than our local Market Basket but they sometimes have very good pricing on fruit which is what we usually pick up here. Today was another example of why I don’t like to visit. I was waiting in line to be checked out (I normally do self checkout but I needed cash back). I was the third person in line and when the person in front of me started loading up I noticed the lane light go off and the cashier stare in my direction. I noticed a patient customer behind me and I didn’t want to waste time waiting longer so I inquire to the cashier if I should move and she impolitely informed me that her lane was closed. This was all with an attitude that I should have known she was closed. This cashier took no care in announcing and would have had myself and the customer behind me waiting longer. Hannaford Hampstead bakery dept is rude and lazy. needed 6 mixed cupcakes for a birthday. asked if they could make a container of 3 choc and 3 vanilla since they only had them in boxes all one flavor. Tina, the counter person said no, not possible with no reason given. they had no marble small cakes. asked if they could get layers from backstock and assemble as a special order. again said no, not possible, "im only working on yellow right now". wtf! while there, I called the Derry store, and they said come over and they'd make up whatever I needed. so had to drive close to an hour round trip outta my way because of Hampstead's laziness. Kayla in Derry did wharever I requested and more within 10 minutes. she was amazing, smiling, pleasant and decorated my cupcakes and cake (which she got from the back) so cute and my granddaughted LOVED the special touches she added! although it's closer to my house, I'll go to ANY other Hannaford...

I have my groceries delivered and have for several years. I love the convenience BUT, there is always something wrong. It used to be if you ordered over a certain dollar amount, delivery was free. I always tip the driver, but Hannaford didn’t charge. Now they do. Coupons are the worst, today’s order had a $5 off coupon, they didn’t apply it, there was a sale on eggs, 2for. I ordered 2. They gave me one and didn’t give me the sale price. Last time there was a coupon for a free box of Ritz crackers, didn’t get those. I used to call but that is just chaos. Unfortunately, I don’t have an option, but if you do, I wouldn’t recommend Hannafords.
