It’s the best of Y’s, and it’s the worst of Y’s
The Great Stuff:
The customer-facing staff is amazing. They are probably the only reason many people stay.
The facilities are top-notch. Everything is clean, well-maintained, and updated.
The courses are great, and the teaching staff is knowledgeable and enthusiastic.
The Not-So-Great Stuff:
One other reviewer already mentioned the mystery busses that show up every so often and randomly disgorge mobs of teenage boys at the front door (who in turn fill the fitness room beyond capacity). I once submitted a proposal that the members simply be alerted the day before this happens so that they can plan; I never received an acknowledgement.
The facility hosts swim meets, and when that happens you can forget about finding a place to park. I have no idea why they don’t direct swim meet vehicles to park in one of the nearby YMCA lots for the day. If you do show up on a swim meet day, be prepared to make a slow Odyssean drive through the various areas of the parking lot before realizing that you won’t be working out that day.
I don’t like that they charge extra for some classes. This place isn’t cheap -- you can look up the membership prices on the website. It strikes me as a little mean to charge retirees who just want to learn how to play pickleball...
Read moreThis is one of the best Y's i have seen. The recent experiences with the staff at the swimming pool is taking away confidence that they will save when in trouble in pool. They need psychological counseling so that they keep their frustrations at home and don't bring it to work.
They should constantly been reminded that they are not working at Ulta Beauty providing suggestions and services based on the skin tone of the people approaching for support or help. Each and every member pays the same membership fees and wish the services are not based on how one looks but based on what is paid for.
I did not had my phone to record how one of the trainer / life guard behaved showing his frustration while i asked for his help.
My wife says some members while in women's room see people of color as if those people does not belong here and its frustrating to see the old mindset during the AI times. Please educate them to live like humans, support and respect each other.
Interpersonal Training is must here to keep them good human beings...Please someone from management work with...
Read moreHi, I came here to update my previous review. And again, another racist experience from your facility. Not sure who’s working today June 19, 2023, but whoever is sitting at the podium, respect everybody no matter what color their skin is. I know in this area you might not see Black people all the time, but we do frequent this facility a lot. you should be ashamed of yourself to pick and choose who you allow in to the building.. especially when you have no prior knowledge to who is walking inside.
You would think in the Morristown area you would get more “quality” people working at this facility. My partner and I have ran into an issue EVERY TIME we come to this specific location. We are members of the Piscataway YMCA and have been a guest at greater Morristown before. All of a sudden they refuse to let us in unless we’re with that specific guest. I spoke to a woman who stated we signed paperwork that we never did. This place is not BIPOC FRIENDLY. I recommend trying to find other locations in the Morris...
