I had my daughter's 12th birthday at the mennen arena and it was awesome and a hit to the other kids as well. Here are a few helpful tips if you are planning a party at the mennen ice skating arena in Morristown. You can pull up in the front of the building to unload your party supplies. I showed up about 15 minutes early to set up. They have two party rooms, the Lake Placid Room (the larger room, no windows) which is the room we had and the Salt Lake City room is a little smaller but it has windows and a door looking into Rink 3. Parties are for 2.5 hours and include skating for 22 guests any extra skaters are additional $9. The rooms have about 8 tables with plenty of chairs. I had 4 tables lined up for the kids and another two lined up for the parents. The other 2 tables I used for the food. You provide the food drinks and decorations (table clothes plates etc.) they also have a concession stand at the arena across from the party room. I ordered pizza and spudnuts from Virilli's pizza in Morristown and they delivered to the party room. I also added on the skating lesson with coach Linda and she was fabulous! The kids all learned so much from her. There was a large garbage can and large recycling can with bags in the room. There was a very slight smell in the room so if you are sensitive I would recommend bringing an air freshener. Also FYI they do not have walkers at the mennen arena. They used to have them but stopped due to kids rough housing and caused a coach to break her arm. They will let you use a traffic cone to get your balance. If I can think of anything else I will add it later but I just wanted to share the info I...
Read moreVery good facility, the only reason I gave it a 3 star is because one of the woman that works there gave my 5 month pregnant wife with twins a hard time for the $5 fee that she didn't have in cash. We went there for my game, walked in together passing bunch of people that work there, no one said a word about the fee, when the game was about to start my wife went out to the car to get something and when she came back in this woman told her she needs to pay $5. My wife said she only have credit card which they don't take, tells the woman I am playing in the game, the woman told her that she need to find a way to get the money or she can just stand at the door, and then tells my wife to come get me so I can go to the locker room and get money for her. Luckily her friend have cash on her and paid for her. For $5 this woman harassed my wife, 5 month pregnant with twins, while I am pretty sure that no one else paid. She was willing to pay it just not right away. My wife went to the front desk and complaint and the girl admitted that they screwed up by not letting people know ahead of time about the fee. Otherwise this place is a good place...
Read moreSuch a disappointment; this was where I learned to skate, and met so many wonderful people. Sadly, management changed hands over the past year, and what initially were thought to be changes due to COVID seem to be permanent; 10 public sessions were once offered every week; we're now down to 4. Sessions used to be 2 hours each with cuts at the hour mark. Now they're down to 1.5 hours. Price is the same. I asked if there was any hope of adding more sessions, and was treated with a rudeness that broke my heart. The director told me I could "go find another rink then." As someone who skated at this arena nearly daily before the pandemic and at every opportunity since re-opening, I was so saddened that the new leadership is so clearly not interested in continuing the legacy of Mennen being the kind, welcoming place it once was. I am looking for other places to enroll my children in Learn to Skate to avoid any further unpleasantness and can treat visitors...
