Because we recently moved to the area, we received a package in the mail with a bunch of high value coupons including a Free Pizza, Free Haircut, etc. (very exclusive; very high value coupons). One of them was $100 towards a framing project (no minimum) at the Picture Framing Outlet. We had two paintings to get framed so I brought them there and to Michael's to get quotes. With the $100 coupon included, the two estimates were about even so I chose to support a local business rather than the chain store. However, I was told I could only choose to either use the "30% off all framing "coupon" or my coupon for $100 I received in the mail. Now mind you, they had a sign in the window that said "30% all framing" so literally every single person who walks in gets "30% off" (really, they probably just raise the prices 30%). Of course the 30% saved me more than the $100 coupon. But it didn't make sense to me. Why send me this exclusive coupon in the mail that, ultimately, is worthless? Everyone who walks in gets "30% off" but in order to use my coupon, I have to choose to pay 30% higher than every other person? I asked this question and was told, well if you frame a really small picture and pay 30% more than everyone else who walks in and then use your $100 coupon, it will cost you very little. What?! Basically, the $100 "coupon" was just to get me in the door but I found it very deceptive since I can't think of any situation where the $100 coupon would actually be of any value. I was told the 30% won't last much longer and here is, over 6 months later, and every time I drive by, I see that sign in the window. I just think this is unethical. I was moderately happy with my actual framing (there was a chip I noticed as soon as I got home). Would never go back or recommend to anyone based on the business practices...
Read moreI bought a groupon to this "establishment" thinking it was a "great deal". But unfortunately it turned out to be a huge disappointment. Let me start with what I paid - $19 for $100 worth of framing. Sounds amazing right? Well not really. The first sign of warning was the fact that I had to make an appointment. Which frame shop asks you to make an appointment? So I bring in my $12 poster to frame which by the way was only 20x24 inches. Here comes the second warning. The salesman ( which I believe was Fred, who also happens to be the owner) asks me the minute I set my print on the table " Do you have a coupon?" Why would he ask this you might say? I'll tell you why, that's cause he gouges the prices. None of his frames were price marked. So technically he just charges whatever he wants depending on the customer. He tried charging me $179 for a simple black wood frame with glass and mounting. Why do I believe he scammed me - well the reason is because right before I bought the voucher I had sent in my daughter in with the exact same print I brought in and Fred quoted her $79 to frame the print with the exact same frame. This means he just adds $100 to the price whenever a customer brings in one of those "money saving vouchers" . well folks, do not fall for this bait and switcheroo like I did. All in all I put Fred in his place by telling him how I caught him. Let's just say he was speechless and had nothing to say cause he got caught. I also got a refund on the groupon voucher and took it elsewhere and had it framed...
Read moreExcellent framing shop. We took our wedding photo's here and the man took his time and showed us many options. For our larger photo we asked if there were less expensive options and without hesitation he showed us different frames and mats that lowered the price to within our range. He gave great advice and they look great hanging in our living room. We recommend this place.
I just went back to this frame shop and again had great service. Took a painting my sister had made me years ago. It is not easy to find a framing shop that actually cares what your artwork will look fully framed.Fred took his time and showed me how he would frame it if it was his. After I tried 5 different frames that I chose, I ended up picking his original frame haha. He gives great advice, which is what I want in...
