Planet Fitness — Local services in Harlingen

Overall, Planet Fitness has been a great facility, and I’ve really enjoyed working out here. The equipment is well-maintained, the staff is friendly, and it’s usually a very welcoming environment.

That said, lately my experience has been impacted by an issue in the 30-minute circuit area. There is one member who has taken it upon herself to “police” the circuit, telling others (myself included) how we should be using the machines and enforcing rules that aren’t posted anywhere in the gym. It’s created an uncomfortable and intimidating atmosphere in what’s supposed to be a judgment-free zone. I’ve even noticed her doing the same thing to other members, which makes me hesitate to use that area at all.

This behavior doesn’t align with the welcoming vibe Planet Fitness is known for, and honestly, it’s making me consider looking for another gym if it continues. I hope management can step in to address this so all members can feel comfortable...

Closed my acct today! Manager was demanding a birth certificate for my son who is 13 years old. I brought him with me to train for the upcoming football season and he didnt allow us to go in because in his eyes my son was “clearly not 13” I told him he was. I signed the waiver online. I gave him my blck card guest pass but the manager demanded a birth certificate. When I told him I never had issues when I brought my daughter he then said “well bring me hers too”. I was a customer for YEARS but Im not bringing a legal document for a gym manager to “verify” his age. As a father I can verify and be legally responsible for my son. Demanding an important legal document from my son isnt even done at border check points but the gym manager feels as he can do it at the gym. Sorry excuse of customer service. Canceled my acct...

A huge disappointment. I was so looking forward to this location opening but I hate going there now. It’s always full of teenagers just hanging out making videos on the equipment. Today I was going to use one of the black card amenities and was told to wait a few minutes in the lobby to let someone else finish. No problem. They then proceeded to skip me and let someone else walk up and go in. I’ll never be back to this location and will be sure to let others know not to go here. The old Harlingen location may not have as much equipment, but the environment and staff are way better.
