The Card Shop HGNTX — Local services in Harlingen

While I visit a lot of shops and give most people the benefit of the doubt, my interaction with the clerk was a very negative one. While he (spiky haired kid with glasses) was very eager to sell cards, he didn't seem very engaging and acted more like we ruined his time playing a video game he was on. When asked about pricing for the cards, he was very hesitant to check and even the prices of the cards themselves seemed to be extremely high. When asked the price for a product that was not even released yet (assuming the item was scalped since its not even released yet), he was hesitant to give an answer how he obtained the items. When he was asked where he got it from, he said he had a distributor and that he was not allowed to give any information about that out. When asked further if the shop was an OTS store or wanting to become one, he said they were interested in becoming one, however when I simply brought up the fact that that would mean they have to sell cards at the official pricing, he (store clerk) responded back that "product is very hard to come by", and that "sometimes the rules have to be bent".

If they didnt have any cards I needed, I wouldnt have bothered shopping there, especially with their extrememly high prices (going over 3x the amount of msrp). Went in wanting to sell some pokemon cards I had back when I was in middle school, the owners jorge and jorge (ironic right? lol) let me know that although the cards weren’t worth much (they were pretty nasty from being in a journal for 7 years😂) they still gave me some credit to put towards one of the new boxes they had on the shelves and even showed me how to check the price on cards myself using a website they use in shop for their own pricing. So they do have some decent cards, but the younger kid with glasses is extremely unprofessional, kept stating he was saving cards for “customers who will actually pay”, or “I can get more money from someone who actually wants them.” He got pressed when I checked market prices, or tried to negotiate. They price singles on the high end, trying to get top dollar. If you’re coming looking for a good deal, look elsewhere.
