New York Deli Harlingen — Restaurant in Harlingen

The New York Deli II is the best joint for sammies, hands down. Portions are far from small, so come hungry! I have been brought here by my parents ever since I can remember. The deli remains – unchanged, and now I now bring my son here. Great UK rocker decor, the friendliest staff, and the best pastrami! I have never had bad service or a bad meal here, and that is why I continue to come back with friends and family. Well today my girlfriend and I never received our order; so, I decided to touch base with the staff and let them we had waited over half-an-hour and were going to be departing. Today was just one of those days, and our order was accidentally marked as “To Go” It happens, we get it. The owner and his wife were very apologetic and genuinely confused, but very understanding. As we walked to our car, we were chased down by the owner’s wife who explained to us the mix up and had our meals in hand! An act like this is what separate a good establishment, from an incredible establishment! My girlfriend and I weren’t mad at all, we were just bummed.. but now I’m eating a Turkey Club Salad, so...

The food was great. I was originally interested as one of the people I know gave me a quarter of his sandwich and it was massive. When we walked in on today Monday at 4:40 I was surprised to see the restaurant was empty. After we sat down we were given our drinks and ordered. My sandwich was smaller than I thought it'd be based on the last one I tried but came with some fries as well. My sandwich was good and quite filling I soon realized. The walls were full of posters and such for the Beatles and other movies in New York. Once the clock hit 5pm I noticed a few customers come in and pick up orders and soon a few came in so the back of the restaurant began filling up as well.their menu does have some sandwiches called triple Deckers, soups, chili's,and some grilled items.

Went for Philly Steak sandwiches. We were brought our drinks and menu. Then we sat and waited while the employees just stood at the counter talking. Finally flagged an employee down and she acted like, Oh you haven’t been waited on yet? There were only a few other people in there so not like they couldn’t see us sitting there waiting for someone to take our order. Ask for the Philly steak sandwich and was told they didn’t have the meat to make that sandwich and we had to change our order. Why weren’t we told that when we got our menus? Then my husband had to go up and ask for a box for our leftovers. Then we had to go up and say we never got our bill and we’d like to pay and get out of here.
