Valentina VIP Nails — Local services in Harrison

Update: I continued to visit this salon and have found my manicurist. Since then, and seeing they have updated their prices on the board inside, I have had very minor issues and so I have added a star. I have visited this salon many times but wanted to share about my most recent experience. They do a pretty good job and some of the ladies are friendly and welcoming, others not so much. I always smile and say hello when I walk in, and generally receive an unenthused response. I went in for a dip powder manicure on my own nails. The price is listed as $46 (and up), and $46 is what I paid when I came to the salon various times before, so I was surprised when Rosa told me it would be $50 upon checking out. Normally, I wouldn't argue over $4, but I wanted to know the reason. I didn't need anything but one coat of basic polish removed, so I was not sure why the upcharge. Rosa proceeded to tell me that "you have long nails" and showed me her fingernails which hardly extended past her fingertips and said "this is $46," to which I responded, "I've been here many times before with this length and it's been $46." My nails were already filed when I arrived as well; I didn't have Elena cut any length (which would have taken more time/effort) and she was done with my manicure in 25 minutes. Extremely disappointing. I called and scheduled an appointment on the phone. I showed up for the appointment and was told no appointment was in their system, and that there was no one available. I understand mistakes happen, but the staff were standoffish and not apologetic. The one staff member called the owner, handed me the phone, and then left. The owner did my nails previously and I loved them. The second time I went, another person did my nails and it was terrible. I was hoping to just request the owner and continue to go, but the lack of professionalism and caring about the disappearance of a scheduled appointment...
