Edit: I am changing my review from a three star to a one star. The last time I went into the store I was with two others. One of them was trying to purchase alcohol. Once we began to check out the manager/worker stated that all of us need to show our ID's. One of us did not have our wallet. Two of us showed our ID's and were/are over the legal age (The third was also of legal age). He stated he could not sell to us because we were all over there in the alcohol section buying it together. This is far from the truth and shows he was making it up because we were all in different parts of the store and only one person was purchasing alcohol. He was very rude about it and we had to ask for our ID's back. For whatever reason it seemed like he was being power hungry. This is not the law and if I was with my parents ID's would not have been asked for. The law states a couple different reasons why you would card everyone. if they are exchanging money in line. (Second hand sale) If more than one person touches the alcohol.
Neither of which happened. I understand the store has it's policies but the way it was handled was not right and we did not show any signs of either. We went right down the road at Walmart and purchased the alcohol there. We were asked for one ID and the cashier entered the DOB in the system. It only asks for one DOB for a reason. Because that is all that is needed.
Food Lion has lost a sale and now a customer. I will never go back to this store. Every time I go in there like I said below, someone always has an attitude or lacks customer service.
It is a good store but lacks in customer service. I have had three separate encounters with cashiers where they just seem like they are having a bad day and do not want to give you any time of day and just give off a bad vibe. Additionally this location really would be better with self checkouts because there are a lot of times where the lines are long and they have very few people working...
Read moreI shop here 3-5 times a week. I picked up a few things 15 mins ago, 6:50 pm (9/20), express was busy so I went to aisle 3 and a blonde girl turned off her light as I walked over. I looked around and went to aisle 5, and asked the kid with short blonde hair why she turned off her light but then checked out the person who walked up to her aisle behind me? (wasn’t really expecting an answer, just kinda angry at that). Then he checked my items and made no attempt to bag them in my Food Lion reusable bag that I bring every time. He also gave me my total without asking for my mvp card, which I swiped myself after he mentioned the total. Every other cashier there is absolutely wonderful and chat with me, bc they know me from how often I’m there. I understand turning your lane off, but then checking out the person behind me?!?! And not even attempting to nag my groceries,… what an awful experience from those two. I’ll never...
Read moreHi! Specifically, Food lion Carlton Street in Harrisonburg, truly sucks if you have any Interest in using the deli. They ignore you. So, walk to the produce section where the nearest employee can force them to serve you, and our friend Joe in produce says “I’m in produce not deli” w a full attitude, bc ofc he does. Tell the deli the specifics you want, but bc it requires the deli worker to move her arm more than she wants to, she doesn’t, , and btw, even though you’ve bought it thousands of times both at this store and others, it can’t be cut how you want it. Gotcha. You’re up, manager Toby! Nope, can’t be cut the way you want it! FROM THE MANAGER! It looks just fine to Toby, the manager. Is anyone besides me totally frustrate at the customer service...
