El Mercado Marketplace — Local services in Hartford

What a disappointment! I usually come here to buy my groceries and I love it! I can find everything that I need. I usually come during the weekend so I didn’t have the chance to try the Mexican Restaurant which I have been craving since I found the market. I came today(Monday) and I wish I should have never tried it. My husband ordered tacos al pastor. I don’t know from what part of Mexico the cook is but those were not made of al pastor, no pineapple, no taste and a weird smell was coming out of them. I ordered chicken flautas and the chicken was so dry and had a very bad flavor almost made me think the chicken was bad. Plus, the waitress/cashier was so rude from the beginning, my husband doesn’t speak Spanish but wherever Hispanic stores I take him people is nice to him and at least try to understand what he is saying. This lady just ignored him and waited until I came and told her what we needed. I should have left as soon as I saw the waitress heating up my rice in the microwave. The delivery driver that takes you home is so unprofessional. I never had an experience like that. One my 3 youngest kids and I go into the delivery van, and the driver walks towards the street to chat with a guy he knows. My kids and I are sitting in the car and it's freaking hot. After 3 minutes of talking to that guy in the car he comes to the van and says "so where are you heading? " second he doesn't puts on his seatbelt so it beeped throughout the ride. It was so annoying. Third he was on his damn cell phone while driving. That man was putting my kids and my self at risk. Forth when I arrived at home he's still on his damn phone and just opens the trunk door and stays there holding it, and doesn't helps me take out all my bags and walk the bags to the door of the building or the apartment door. Damn bags were heavy. All he did with the bags was grabbed like 4 of them, took it out the storage tote and place it on the rug if the trunk. With my left hand full of bags I come and grabbed the rest of those 4 bags with my right hand and head towards the building door with my 3 youngest kids. The...

Everyone there are so polite, cheerful with beautiful smiles and there courtesy is out of this world! The different dishes of homemade cooking of all Spanish countries makes you just want to sit and taste a little of everything. The portions they serve ; can be a meal for two.
