I've enjoyed buying from Sterns. I've been going every couple of weeks for some time. But today a bad experience means I will shift most of my buying elsewhere.
I was told one day, that they did not take debit/credit cards. I know I had paid with one previously, but they said I was mistaken. Today, after a long wait in line (Saturday mornings are busy) as I was finally third in line, the woman at the front wanted to pay with a credit card. Everyone else had paid in cash. Apparently a friend of someone there it was allowed. The clerk had to go to a different counter to run it, coming back to confirm the total, etc. It took a while. And then the woman second in line also wanted to pay with a card. I have, before every visit, made sure to stop at the bank for cash. :P

Read moreStern's a small,l very produce clean, produce/grocery store with a decent variety. I love that they have the zero wast bulk nuts and seeds and rice and beans. They provide brown bags if you'd like. Their produce is of great quality. The staff is so nice! They help you and are very friendly. When I was leaving one of the staff members asked if I needed help bringing stuff to my car. I love that they use used boxes for your food and dont waste plastic if they don't have to. They are small and don't have everything, but they have a lot and I'm happy with the prices. Much cheaper than the typical Co-op, but maybe a little more expensive than the typical grocery store, but with higher quality. Also, it's very clean! I will be coming here for now on! It's a White River...

Pros quality selection: the usuals plus a wide selection of more "exotic" finds, daikon, 4 different varieties of mushrooms, baby bok choy etc. PRICE: head of cauliflower that was ENORMOUS cost $2.25. The same head, that's usually smaller runs about $5 at the Coop. Eccentric counter help
