One thing I appreciate about Big Y in Bishops Corner is how earnestly they take customer feedbackâand how visibly that feedback drives change, as seen in their recent store updates. Unfortunately, I canât say the same about the Stop & Shop on Farmington Avenue. I suspect that feedback here often goes unread, if not outright ignored.
I previously reviewed this location, voicing concerns in the hope that things would improve. I believe in giving businesses the opportunity to grow, but sadly, this store has not.
This used to be my go-to grocery store. I wanted it to be again. But over the past year, Iâve had a string of negative experiencesâtwo of them just today during a bottle and can redemption visit.
First, I arrived about 15 minutes before the redemption area was set to close for cleaning. I only needed a few minutes to finish my returns, and the employee told me he wouldnât be closing it until the hour. Yet, he began cleaning immediately, sweeping around customersâ feet while we tried to finish. Not only was this unprofessional and uncomfortable, but he also deactivated the automatic door while we were still inside. I had to pry it open with my fingertips to leave. Another customer left at the same time, remarking that his behavior made her uneasy. If the area was to be cleaned from 2â3 p.m., that should have been the actual window for cleaningânot a vague excuse to usher customers out early.
When I went to cash in the slips at Customer Service, I found one cashier, who chose to count lottery tickets rather than address the growing line. I understand the need to follow procedureâbut itâs also a basic courtesy to assess whether any waiting customers need help before proceeding with a task like that. Ironically, the only customer who wanted lottery tickets had already left.
These may seem like small moments, but they reflect poorly on the brand. Every employee, regardless of role, is an extension of the companyâand when basic service and courtesy are overlooked, that tells me everything I need to know about managementâs priorities.
I havenât even addressed the consistently high prices here, especially when compared to nearby competitors like Big Y.
Thereâs potential for this location to improveâbut that road will be long. In the meantime, Iâm taking my business elsewhere, and I strongly encourage others to do the same. Customers should not be expected to lower their standards simply because a store fails...

Read moreFirst this is worthy of a zero star rating and if I could give it a zero star I would and this is why.
On Friday afternoon March 28th apx 1:00 pm (register receipt shows 1:15 pm) while going through the checkout a security guard had his eyes on me watching me way too close for comfort and stands close to the checkout stand, why I don't know.
In doing so he created a hostile environment and ruined my shopping experience with stop and shop.
Why because I'm wearing a black leather biker jacket and black leather pants with black sunglasses . This was profiling plain pure and simple.
I am that I am, a Jew who wears leather and sunglasses.
That's how I roll I wear leather a leather biker jacket and leather pants and sunglasses and the vinyl version of my vinyl biker jacket and pants I wear this usually in wet weather.
This was most injurious as he did not accept me as I am , but treated me with prejudice . He affectively tried, convict, and executed me with extreme prejudice.
This isn't about getting the security guard into trouble that's not my style, instead to heal him of this possible prejudice with knowledge and understanding which in turn will give him wisdom, knowledge combats ignorance which is a breeding ground of hate and there by destroying hate. I hope this experience will heal him, as I'm a healer who's an empath,a empath who is a healer.
On this same day just after I entered the store this robot called Marty is on me giving me reason to believe that this is no accident and it's being controlled by a central office most likely security as it seems to follow me and this happens nearly every time I come to this and any stop and shop store, more so at this store on New Park Avenue in Hartford.
Many say that this robot is being used to spy on shoppers for their shopping habits and those that might shoplift and some say this thing is creepy too, I complain and state the this robot is being used to watch me and is creepy tĂło
This is inconsistent with healing as this robot and the security guard caused me an injury by ruining my shopping experience with stop and shop.
