KO Storage — Local services in Hastings

BEWARE!!! NOT SECURE as presented in their listing. Property is NOT Gated or Fenced. Discovered on Aug 7th my lock was removed and someone else's lock was placed on my unit. The company stickered it for verification. The company DID NOT NOTICE that the lock had been changed (supposed to contact the owner if a lock without sticker is attached) and DID NOT CONTACT ME, I was the one who discovered it. It took 2 days to get permission to remove the new lock (after being told I could get in trouble) only to find that almost $1000 in tools were missing. Numerous calls were made to the number listed in regards to surveillance footage and I was told that they would forward it onto management several times. Only received one call from a maintenance man named Mike who stated that 1 of the cameras wasn't even working. Upon surveying the property it appears there is no coverage down the rows or in the back and that there are only 3 cameras in total for the entire site. After 2 weeks of no responses I moved to another facility that costs less and is actually gated and fenced. The months I stored my belongings at the KO storage unit in Hastings were miserable. The first couple months were ok but when winter came ice built up in front of the door so I couldn’t open it. I had to chip away at the ice and broke a hammer. Then the road was covered in ice and I slipped and fell hurting my back and hip. Excellent communication between the property manager, Rick and I! I purchase storage units via online auctions and it is often difficult to reach a facility or it’s managed. Rick returned my voicemail and was more than helpful And flexible with scheduling a clean out date! I will definitely work with him again if an opportunity is presented! Thanks again, Rick.
