Just I wanted to like this place, I really did. After buying a few vehicles at one of the largest dealers in the state, I was looking for a change. I had asked the sales team what they could offer over the bigger dealers, the only answer they said was better customer service. Unfortunately they could not even manage that.
I had problems from start to finish. They never once needed to "sell me". I know the vehicle I wanted and was planning to order it instead of buying off the lot as I have always done done in the past. I just needed to understand which particular feature I wanted and to understand the process. Unfortunately, I was given more bad info than good. I was given incorrect info on features, warranty limits and financing. The sales manger frequently walked into the conversations and would offer bad info because he was not part of earlier discussions.
It was worse on phone calls with my salesperson. Several times I called with questions and I was told to hold while he checked or he would call me back, but without warning, the next thing I know I was talking to the sales manager instead of the salesperson I was wanting to talk to as I was trying to keep conversations to just one point of contact because I was getting tired of "help" from people who didn't know the whole story.
When it came time to order, I was only offered their standard discount. They refused to negotiate one cent. I finally relented only because it was the end of the month and I wanted to take advantage of a financing deal that I was expecting to end im a couple days. When I went there to complete the paperwork for the order, my salesperson passed me off on someone else to help me. When the vehicle arrived a few months later, I made an appointment with him to pick it up, he did it again. I was once again pawned off on another person. I really felt like purchase was not important enough to give me personal service.
About six weeks later, I made an appointment for my first oil change, recall work and to fix a couple things that not right from the factory. Since I had a few things for them to do and the dealer was about 30 minutes away, I picked a day for when they had a loaner car available, which as a week out. When I showed up for my appointment and got checked in, they realized they forgot to reserve a car for me. So I had to be rescheduled for another day.
When I came back the second time, they called me to tell me all work was done and I could pick it up. But they tried to charge me for something that was broke broke when I bought the vehicle and should have been covered under the warranty anyway. After I left, I discovered they put the wrong engine oil in, didn't fix something I had requested to be fixed, broke something else they didn't tell me about. So I had so make a 3rd appointment to come back. Then they tried to charge me for something that was missing when I bought the truck and couldn't fix the thing they broke.
Throughout all of this, I escalated my issues and concerns to sales and service managers but all I got was a runaround. Sales team blamed the service people for things and the servile people would blame the sales team. They never addressed all my issues and stopped returning calls. I ended up fixing the thing they broke myself. There was other issues that I even left out. I should have trusted my instincts and walked away long before I ever bought from them. But I wanted to give them them a fair chance to show me that that better customer service they promised but it never happened. stay away!
EDIT:
FYI, even though they responded to my review, saying the would "look" into it, they have NOT tried to contact me since I last tried to call them They want to pretend they offer good customer service but they really do not act on it to actually back it up. Just on to the next customer to screw over!
Bart,
You have already "Proven your quality" to me. My past dealings with you is one of the reasons I am sharing with people exactly what kind of...
Read moreSo i went in to Hastings Auto to help a friend look at a 2010 Jeep Wrangler. Just to be sure she was not ripped off. The dealer by the name of Nick talked to us about the jeep, told us that the previous owners used it for off roading and had the carpet taken out to make it easier to clean my friend would have done the same thing so it saved her time and effort. And due to it being a off roading vehicle Nick made the "claim” they had to replace the tie rods the shocks and get it aligned and that they also replaced the tires and breaks. We went for a test drive and the engine sounded good and shifted well as it was a manual transmission. My friend loved the Jeep and given what i had been told and seen and (not heard) i gave her the thumps up to get it. We sat there for 5 hours waiting on paper work and the finance guy to start this whole thing. Now once we get to sit down with the finance guy he of course goes over warranty options as i advised her to listen to as the Jeep had over 100,000 miles on it, he joked about not needing any of the bigger ones even though he was supposed to "upsell" us i loved what i thought was his honesty. He told us the warranty was $2,500 and could be used at most mechanics and if we had any trouble to call him directly and that this would cover "most" issues that may or may not come up with it. However turns out it can only be used at Hastings or and other certified Jeep dealership so he lied about that as well as to what it covers ( or cost’s) the warranty price is not in the paperwork as a separate price only the total price of sale . We finish up shake hands and my friend loves her new Jeep. A week or so later she takes her jeep to the car wash and got a rock stuck in her wheel causing it to make a real loud grinding sound, she takes it to Hastings after making a appointment nobody wrote down and they found the stone told her it would take no more than 15 minutes to remove, it took them more than a hour and charged her $70 to remove a stone! And things get fun from this point.. she has "ironically" has so many issues pop us after this. Again no issues before but suddenly lots pop up after a hour to remove a stone. (no coincidence at all) So it starts with her air bag light going off and her horn stops working, turns out her air bag “burnt out” but was not covered under the warranty. We find out all the stuff Nick told us was done to the jeep before we bought it was not. Only the tires (unsafe offroad tires) NO new breaks tie rods shocks nothing else flat out lied and I would never had agreed to the price of the jeep had that been the case but they hide behind the “bought it as is” also keep in mind my friend explained she was planning to use the jeep as a daily driver and not once did the pure off road tires get mentioned by Nick, AND it turns out it now leaks steering fluid and my friend has a hard time keeping the jeep on the road during small rain storms due to the power steering and the tires they put on it. She was also lied to about her clock spring being covered that had been replaced because she started hearing sounds from the dash after she shut the jeep off, her horn also stopped working. They took it for 10 days and put over 1,000 miles on it gave it back to her with almost no gas and did not fix a thing. It also leaks when it rains and says that it collects rain water and has to drain it. A few weeks after that her check engine light comes on she took it in to have a oil change done and funny enough the guys at jiffy lube where confused because Hastings (the ones who put the tires on) had the wrong caps on the tire causing the check engine light come on plus some of the sensors were turned off all together. They will not return her phone calls or emails this place is a joke they try and hide behind paperwork like the form you sign saying you bought the vehicle “as is” and thinks they can tamper with vehicles afterwards to generate more revenue....
Read moreThis place had our car for over 3 weeks charged us for 2 diagnostics for the same issue. We were having a clunking noise coming from the front and back of the car. They couldn’t even get the car to make the noise I had to stop there after I got done with work and drive the car while they had to people sitting in the back seat and neither one of them were mechanics. I had a scheduled appointment and it took them over a day and a half to call me with the issues. When they called me back and told me the problems they think is wrong and I say this again what they think is wrong. We bought this car from Chrysler 4 years ago and have problems with this car and this shop since. 2 years ago they replaced the sway bar links and they are telling me that they are bad again when I have not even put 20 thousand miles on the car. Needless to say that was not the only issue with the car they said the axle seal was leaking in the back so they recommended the seal be replaced. This was before I took them on a ride and they came to a conclusion that the axle shaft was bad so they had to replace. The one they ordered was too short so they had to order the more expensive shaft. So after they replaced the shaft it took them over 3 days to call me. After that was replaced the car was still making noise in the rear. 4 days later I called to see if they have looked at it or found the issue and Jordan said he needed till mon to have there master tech take a ride and listen to the noise. I waited till wed and Jordan was not in the office so I still didn’t know what was found but the lady in the office said they have not found the issue but it was ok to come get cause they couldn’t hear anything. I said was not coming to get the car until I heard from Jordan. A few days passed and my significant other decided to call to find out what was found and the lady said the car was test drove and nothing was done but the weird thing on that is she was told the person that test drove the car was not even in for the day. Lied to again. After the fact the axle shaft was not the issue now they telling us the rear differential is bad and that’s what’s making the noise so another 2000 dollars for something they think is the problem. So forking out over 1600 dollars for an axle shaft a axle seal and some fluid and they didn’t fix a dam thing. These people are incompetent. Our vehicle will never be brought here nor will I ever by a car from this...
