I called the store to get their email address to send a print job. There was no answer. I looked at the store's website and sent it to the email address there. I included a request to call me and confirm receipt.
After multitasking for a half hour without a call I called back. A young man answered and was not able to find my email. He said there is a separate email address for print jobs. Ok, no big deal. I sent it again.
The young man confirmed receipt. I specified in the body of the email what I wanted - number of copies, double sided, etc. I said I would come by at 5 to pick up.
I got a call that it was ready around 4:20. Great, I'll be there at 5. When I got there I was told that the print job was done in color. I admit, I neglected to specify black and white in my email. That said, I have worked with printing contractors since 2001. Due to the cost difference between printing in color vs. black and white it is customary to establish before printing if color is preferred. In this case, I spoke to a person prior to the job who did not clarify. And a different person (possibly an owner based off of the website photo) had my phone number but did not call to ask before performing the job. I arrived and was told that color copies were made. Unfortunately, I did not have time to refuse the color copies and request black and white. The urgency of the job is what prompted my emails and communication in the first place - in an attempt to complete this task according to my schedule.
For those who are not as familiar, this would be akin to ordering a rum and coke at a bar and the bartender charging you for top shelf instead of asking what kind of liquor you want.
It showed bad faith. I spent $35 on 40 pieces of paper. If you are ever in a position of needing copies I would urge you to learn from my experience. Specify exactly what you want (which I thought I did, but mistakes happen). Get a quote and decide if the cost is within your budget.
The job was done in a timely manner. The store is clean. The experience was disappointing.
Edited to add: I received an email from the owner who said that I was dishonest. The document was 70 pages, and I was only charged for black and white.

I was working out of state and desperately needed some documents notarized and mailed. My work hours are Monday Saturday 5:00am 7:00 pm with Sundays off. Not only did she notarize my documents, she made a copy for me, put together everything for mailing, and made sure that everything was perfect. Amanda was kind, caring, organized, professional, and gave me the peace of mind to know that my problem was resolved to my satisfaction! I have and would HIGHLY recommend this UPS Store.
