As anticipated, the arrival of a new hibachi and sushi restaurant generated excitement, but unfortunately, it struggles with the same issues as many others in the genre. Tokyo Grill. The one true sushi restaurant that existed in Hastings.—now a brief memory- unfortunately we were just not ready for that quality of sushi and the restaurant struggled for success.
Food Quality and Value Items Ordered:
SR3. California Roll - $6.95 White Tuna Sushi (2 pieces) - $6.85 S9. C-Roll (5 pieces) - $14.25 Assessment of Food: The sushi left much to be desired:
Sticky Rice Quality: The rice did not seem fresh, was crumbly, and lacked the cohesive texture expected in sushi. This caused the pieces to fall apart when handled with chopsticks. Undersized Rice to Fish Ratio: The rice portion was noticeably small in comparison to the fish, creating an imbalance in flavor and presentation. Specialty Rolls: Specialty rolls were disappointing. Measuring roughly 3 inches round and half an inch wide, they were awkwardly sized—too big to eat in one bite, yet prone to falling apart when attempted. Packaging Issues: Rolls were packed too tightly into a small container, further damaging their structure during transport. Value Comparison While it’s convenient to stay local, the quality of the sushi does not justify the cost. Asaka Buffet in Woodbury offers a significantly better experience, particularly with its all-you-can-eat option. The downside is the drive, but the superior quality and presentation of the food make it worth the extra effort.
I do hope that they receive the message and make adjustments. Although the operation seems to be trying to maximize profits and that's what a business does. It's not sustainable to gouge..

Read moreFood: Husband and I ordered 8 sushi rolls, 4 onigiri rolls, and 2 boba drinks.
All the sushi rolls we had were delicious! Everything was so fresh. I recommend the Black Widow Roll if you love eel. If you like raw tuna and salmon, get the Tuna Special Roll and the Osaka Roll. I love the variety of rolls that they have because I like raw fish but my husband does not so they have options for both of us. We both loved the sushi rolls that we ordered!
Japanese onigiri - I think this place is the only place in Minnesota that offers these and I’m so glad I found out about it! I got the spicy tuna, spicy salmon, and 2 shrimp tempura. I love that they make it fresh to order! They were nice and warm and super delicious! Love all 3 flavors that I got and the packaging is super cute!!! Check out photos to see how cute they are.
Milk tea & brown sugar boba drinks - loved the drinks! So flavorful and I can actually taste the tea in the milk tea. Not too overly sweet. I think they can improve on the boba pearls. The pearls were a little mushy & sticky for me, but not too bad.
Price: Very affordable quality sushi! Everything came to a total of $141.
Takeout experience - so easy to order online and food was ready in 30 minutes. Since I did a big order and I live kind of far from the place, I thought I would give them time to do the order, but they finished my order within the 30 minutes that they told me online. They even gave me a call when my order was completed and I was still driving there.
Service - didn’t get to experience dine-in service but the takeout service was great! Friendly staffs and food was well package. They gave us ginger and wasabi for each sushi roll and gave us so much soy sauce. Definitely my new favorite sushi...
Read moreTerrible experience. Worst customer service I've had to date. I walked in told the employee that I was there to pick up an order they asked if I had provided a name they never asked for a name over the call so I described my order. I misspoke my order and I'm being mocked by the employee. I then go on to say it's been a long day. For me. 16 hours.. and I misspoke sorry. He has the nerve to look at me and say I've had longer. Good for you wasn't asking. I tried to be nice and let it go. Then I was told my total and was told to take x number and divide by 100 and that was my total. First off I'm a customer. I'm paying for food not to do math. This was very unprofessional. This individual Lacks every customer service skill in the book.. my three year old toddler has better manners. I will not return to this location if set employee continues to work there I'm not going to go in and made to be felt uncomfortable. And who knows who else he's done this to. I called to speak to a manager and was told that they don't have a manager's number and then I got a call back asking why I was asking for the manager... Sounds like someone realized...
