My hard lesson learned on moving …with Suburban Solutions (Left Me In a last Minute Bind). I hired the company for my move across town because of their great reviews. My emails where detailed that the most important item in my list was a New Beautiful Wood Piano. I asked them if they moved Pianos and they said yes for extra fee of $150 which was ok with me. My expectation was if I paid money for my piano’s safe journey to its new home, the moving company would be able to do it. I explained prior that there was a slope and the piano would fit through the sliding glass door. I don’t know anything about moving so I believe the management handles the logistics. I felt that if a piano is involved in any move that enough men will be provided to move it or if needed another person can be called in if for any reason if it is too much for just 3 men. When the crew leader informed me that would not be able to bring in my piano because they where only a crew of 3 and they might get hurt. They said they would have to leave the piano OUTSIDE on the sidewalk. I did NOT want the crew to get hurt. I AGREED that with 3 men it did not look good. I believed they called management and management advised them they could NOT send anyone else to help. The Only solution was to leave the piano outside exposed to the weather. I believe it was going to rain later that day. I called management and spoke with Kris, in good faith that they could send someone else to help. I just thought as a paying customer (price is not cheap either) somehow someone could be sent to help but I was told that there was nothing that could be done. The piano would have to be left outside. They did not have the means to send over someone else to help bring it in. When I asked what the solution was because my piano was the most precious item on my list that I so expressed in my emails when I was getting a quote from them…. I have taken care of this piano for so long. I love this piano. Kris’s answer to me was that “sometimes this happens in moving and that I needed to get piano movers”. And that was it, they washed their hands of the situation. I could tell management was not going to provide any further assistance and I would pay the bill $1500 (for a 1 bedroom) and have my beautiful piano outside. I paid the money and this has been my worst moving experience ever. In the end i had to sign a waiver to release them from responsibility to get the piano in and so i did but it did get damaged. Everyone that sees it ask me about it and I ll be forever letting them know how this situation caused this damage and on top of that I paid 1500 for this nightmare moving experience for a 1bedroom. I tip the movers because I don't blame them but the management did not help me out at all when I called them for help on that day. Every time I walk by the piano I am reminded. This has been a hard lesson learned. To always hire piano movers not regular moving companies. This was a waste of my money $1500 because in the end my most treasured item did not make it to its new home in good condition. I love this piano and spent many happy times playing it now it hurts me...
Read moreWhen I was looking to hire movers I was blown away by the number of positive reviews on Yelp that Suburban had - I didn't even bother contacting anyone else! They were so easy to work with and very responsive to my questions and requests - co-owner Patrick M. was so generous and came out twice to review our packing and worked with us on the price quote options - all of which were incredibly fair. On moving day Kevin T., Jon B., Charles G., Bobby T., and Curt N. came in like total pro's - I just stood back and let them do their thing - they worked SO fast and efficiently! Especially given ours being a more difficult move since we came from a high-rise apt. building and they had to load and unload everything into our elevator. Moving can be stressful, but they all had such positive attitudes that it was a great move, I felt like I could have just gone out for coffee and only come back when they needed me. I was worried that the truck might be too small (that happened on our last move with a different company, so I was just anxious) but Suburban knows their business and there was no need for concern at all! Everything fit perfectly. I stayed behind to clean up our old place before driving out the 2 hours to meet my husband and the moving truck at the new place - and they were already done unloading! All in all the move, including the drive to the new place, took from 9am-4:30pm - I was so impressed! All of our items made it over perfectly, with only minor breaks on 2 mirrors - but that's to be expected, we didn't really pack them very carefully and Suburban did offer to let us put it as a claim on their insurance but the mirrors weren't worth that much and the breaks were VERY minor, so we didn't bother. If you really care about a mirror/glass/fragile items - just move it in the car yourself. I definitely recommend Suburban with no hesitations, and I will be hiring them again for another upcoming move we're planning! Thank you Suburban for making our moving...
Read moreBeware of too many positive reviews! Companies can pay to have negative reviews deleted or moved to the bottom. It takes a lot for me to write a poor review but I am a customer service professional with 20yrs. experience and this company on this day deserves this review. This was my 3rd time using them after having 2 positive experiences in the past. When the crew (3) arrived one was smoking and since it was now my time (as you pay door to door) he was on I asked him to put out his cigarette as I am allergic to that kind of smoke, he was entering my 74yr. old mother's home and I didn't want her house and our things smelling of smoke. He ignored me and continued to smoke while unloading the truck and moving blankets. Justin who was “leading” the team said nothing to him. He was defiant, unprofessional and clearly thought he was entitled. That’s his immaturity level, poor training and lack of respect for the owner (which I have emailed twice since then and was given no response). However, being the professional I AM I did tip the workers even though only one of them deserved it. When they arrived at my new place, once piece showed damage and I asked Justin if it was wrapped to the bottom. He said it was. Didn't look at it, no suggestion of possible fault or apology. Then a worker asked to use my bathroom in my new place which of course I said yes. There was soap, hand sanitizer and disposable guest towels. Immediately after they left I went to that bathroom to wipe it down due to Covid since he was not wearing gloves. The sink was bone dry, no disposable hand towel had been used and the hand sanitizer was still in the locked position. That is not only poor and unsanitary hygiene but unsafe with this virus going around. It's unfortunate since both previous crews were very good but I will never use or recommend them again. There clearly needs to be more training and professionalism on this company's end starting...
