Its very rare i write anything anymore… I normally dont care how i go out of the way buy things one way or another…. Take my money. I do how ever care how i was treated poorly after trying to inquire and purchase my favorite perfume at the kona macys. Its the day after Black Friday and I arrive at the perfume counter with a women in a blue dress and short dark curls going about collecting trash from everyones waste bins and ignoring people at her station. I get it, its side work, but when it comes to A potential sale is it really wise to leave your station to collect your peers small rubbish bins when u could Of just acknowledged us, and say, “ I will be right with you?” Waited nearly over 5 minutes listening to another employee ask her client if she had a pleasant Thanksgiving, and really connected with her. I was met with a Disgruntled, frustrated employee, and she is probably overworked and underpaid by asking her questions about whats on sale at her station. She replied “just the things on the Table. Thank you.” ???????? She walks away… Confused I started asking her about a kit that would normally come with the perfume I Purchase a few times a year. But she was nowhere to be found and then I had to yell out “where are you? “ She yells back “still behind the counter.” Honestly, I do not know what the perfume I purchased was called, but I wanted to get another one anyway, and I know what the box looks like so when I pointed in the glass case, the one that I had a question about she kept on repeating, which one? And finally, I told her “I’m not sure what it’s called. Can you just please come and help me.? “ She finally gave me a short answer and dismissed me. I had that decided not to purchase anything anymore and come back another day when she is less busy or in a better mood. I Did not like my experience at all with the performance of the perfume station. Just wanted to treat myself to a fragrance I buy time and time again.
Maybe be kinder to your staff or pay your staff more so they want to be there and help other customers. It seemed that the older lady was stressed out, overwhelmed and unhappy at her job. Its not her fault i suppose she has to Do 3 other peoples job and gets paid for one.

Read moreThe employees need to take a course or be trained on how to answer their phone properly. An older woman answered the phone saying "hello",went silent, and waited for a response from me. I was confused thinking I called someones personal phone. Then I asked if this was macys she said "yes it is" and went silent again. I then asked my question and the whole conversation since she she answered the phone just by her tone seemed as if she was bothered by it. I didn't even get her name or nothing she was quick to get off the phone.
As a store manager, working in any customer service environment, you want all your employees, including yourself, answering phones by greeting customers politely, stating the store customers are calling, stating your name, then asking how you may help them, so customers can feel welcomed and excited to shop at your store. For example, "Macy's Kailua-Kona, my name is _, how may I help you?" Or "Thank you for calling Macy's in Kona. My name is _. How can I help you?" Or make it short and sweet "Macy's Kona, this is _, how I can help you?".
I don't even want to go in now because of the uncomfortable interaction I received just over the phone. That is NOT a good 1st impression to receive from a place you were looking forward to shop at. Hopefully Macys Kona can correct that so it doesnt affect future...
Read moreI always feel disappointed everytime I go to Macy's. And it's just the Macy's here in Kona, because even in Hilo, it's a far better experience. The snobbery in Kona is palpable. I ride a motorcycle, so I occasionally come in with gear on, and you can just sense the stares and the awkward feeling from both the other customers and the staff. I could care less about the customers, they're easy to ignore. But the staff, now that's another issue. I've literally been in the store, looking for shirts, or slacks, and had staff look at me, and turn to another customer that looked more affluent. I've watched this happen to locals too. So, while they have a decent selection of perfumes for the ladies, and some nice apparel, I'll drive or ride out to Waikoloa, and shop at the Macy's out there, or head on to Tommy Bahamas for an even better experience, and direct source shopping. The management at the Kona Macy's really needs to focus on non discrimination training for the staff, and probably for themselves too. Unless you have to go, there are other options, so I would avoid...
