Outstanding. The Malasadas were hands down the best in Kona. Especially when you factor in the variety of flavors available! Me and my wife got 1 of each flavor (13 total including plain) and 1 Crème Brulé filled donut. And let me tell you, they were all filled to the max! The bakers were very kind and talked about how they make basically all of the fillings with local fruit. When we ordered they offered to label the box so we knew which flavor was where. This was really nice of them although it took some time and I did feel bad holding up the line, but they had no issue with it thankfully. This establishment is in a food court which isn’t bad at all, it had plenty of seating and at 8am they were the only open business so it was very calm inside. Upon trying each flavor, me and my wife came up with a couple favorites and I will list them below. My favorites: Ube Malasada Mango Malasada Lilikoi Malasada My wife’s favorites: Custard Malasada Mango Malasada Although those were our favorites, they were basically all amazing! The ones I could have personally gone without were the plain (no filling) and the banana, which had more of a plantain flavor. Great food and experience, 10/10 highly recommend, thank you to the kind people who served us!

Holy delicious donuts and malasadas! The owner was extremely helpful and explained all the different types of donuts and which ones were his favorite. After finally making our choice we decided on the coffee latte donut and plain and guava filled malasadas. I've had many donuts in my many years on this planet, and I thought a donut is a donut, until I came here. That coffee latte donut was the best donut I've ever had. It was so incredibly light and airy and the glaze (made with 100% Kona coffee, as informed by the owner) was sweet but not too sweet and tasted legit like coffee unlike some places that just put too much sugar in the glaze and it overpowers the flavor. That was not the case with this donut. The malasadas were also delicious, super light and buttery and the guava filling was sweet, tart, and perfectly complimented the fluffy dough. Even if you're not feeling donuts you need to try these. Not sure what kind of magic they're using, but I love it. You will too!

The malasadas were sooo good. Soft and fluffy texture as well as not to sugary and sweet. Delicious. The toasted coconut donut was very yummy with the glazed and coconut additions, the creme filling was fitting and the perfect level of sweetness. Passion fruit isn't exactly my favorite thing so I didn't really like the cheesecake that much but the cake in general was soft and cheesy as a cheesecake should be. Now onto the classic maple bar, it had really good dough so soft and fluffy just like the malasadas. I also loved the little reindeer decorations. The only thing I didn't like was the icing. No flavoring at all and was really flat if that makes sense. I didn't really enjoy the berry pink donut, the dough was good as usual but the icing again had no flavor. I was expecting some flavor but it just tastes like watered down sugar hardened. Overall the dough of the donuts here are top tier and depending on your preferences and had unique donuts designs !

I hesitate to write this review but I’m forging on because I don't want to keep this secret to myself. They deserve to be world-renowned; not that I believe my review will provide those means. There have been many claims over the years of who on the island has the best malasadas. Hands down, Paradise Bakery holds the championship cup (if one were provided for Best Malasada, Island of Hawaii). They do not skimp! They do not cut corners! These sweet Portuguese puffs are made with love and filled with the highest quality ingredients. The raspberry malasada I enjoyed this morning, for my birthday, was filled with a raspberry demulcent that I can tell brings with it many good things for my 54th year. This was no raspberry filling like any before. Typically, you get some raspberry in a jelly-like concoction… no, no, no! Paradise Bakery will not be serving raspberry flavored gelatin to the masses. They will serve you a malasada that has just the right amount of sugar, not so much it's falling off, not so little that it’s not a true malsada. The pastry itself is the perfect mix of melt in your mouth and yet doughy enough to hold the luscious filling. This Malasada cannot compare! Perhaps you should try Malasadas on other parts of the island. Head to any bakery on island and have a good Malasada, it’s nice. However, when you’re ready to have your mind blown and your taste buds explode, go savor the amazingness that is a Paradise Bakery Malasada. The owners serve up their deliciousness with kindness, care, always a smile, and pleasantries. The bakery itself is in an open air food court near Target. You’ll see the donuts sign. Follow the delicious scent. Your tongue, your belly, and your heart...

Paradise Bakery Hawaii: A Hidden Gem in Kona

Tucked away in the Kona International Market’s food court, Paradise Bakery Hawaii is a delightful find for donut enthusiasts. The plain, no-filling donut stands out with its fresh, warm, and irresistibly delicious flavor—so much so that a single bite often leads to ordering seconds.

The bakery’s location within the open-air market adds to its charm, offering a relaxed and inviting atmosphere for patrons. Visitors frequently praise the friendly service and the freshness of the offerings. One reviewer noted, “This little hidden bakery has great donuts and malasadas. The service is friendly as you order at the counter inside this little food court.”

For those seeking variety, the bakery also offers malasadas with seasonal fruit fillings, reflecting their commitment to fresh, local ingredients. A satisfied customer shared, “They were so fresh and flavorful, and the combinations of ingredients were unique and worked well together.”

While the bakery’s location is a bit off the beaten path, it’s well worth the visit. As one patron advised, “Get there early because they sell out.”

In summary, Paradise Bakery Hawaii offers a donut experience that rivals, if not surpasses, more renowned establishments. It’s a must-visit for anyone in Kona, though the distance may leave you wishing this gem was...
