Rather stark suburban style strip mall right at the gateway into Waikoloa Village...the entire complex suffers from a lack of trees, shade devices, landscaping throughout (save for the borders of the property) or much seating. Not to mention the rather expansive parking lot that creates that dreadful heat island effect, the gleaming concrete sidewalks with no stone treatments, grass or plants to break it up does not help with the sun beaming down! On to the shopping & dining side of things there seems to be a large selection of open & coming soon eateries, no boutiques as of yet, a goodwill, auto parts and hardware store. The planned Foodland grocery store has yet to even begin site work so hopefully that happens soon. Waikoloa Plaza was rather a let down compared to Meridian Pacifics (developer) Puna Kai project in Pahoa. All in all Waikoloa Plaza seems to be built to meet the very minimum zoning & code requirements with little to no thought in design aesthetics or pedestrian...

Besides the many tasty eateries, there is a hardware store, gas station and a new Foodland grocery store is projected to be opened in August 2026.
