With the many glowing reviews and having eaten at the Kona location, we decided to stop by and try the Waikoloa Fireart. From the get-go, the service was extremely poor. When we entered no one greeted us — both servers were too preoccupied to ask whether we were dining in or taking out. So, on a whim we decided to sit at the “bar” area and grabbed menus to browse. After five minutes or so, one of the servers asked if we were going to order take out which we declined and asked to dine in. We ordered the orange chicken, mapo tofu, and General Tso chicken and a couple of drinks. My partner recognized that they failed to provide us with water and straws for our drinks, while the rest of the patrons appeared to have straws and water as one would expect for dine in guests. Ultimately, we waited for over 30 minutes as order after order of take out was bagged and picked up, some order and pickups happening even after we had sat waited for our order! The food finally arrived and was mediocre at best. This Waikoloa location was a heavy disappointment and not a restaurant we would consider ordering from again. We were looking for a quick stop that was open around 11:00 am. That's a pretty tall order in the waikaloa village area. This place was on point though.
My wife had the Orange chicken because she is a 🐼 express baby, and she was pleased. Most items on the menu come ala carte, so it is a family style restaurant at heart. There was a plate section with the Orange chicken also, and it came with rice and mac salad.
I had the mapo tofu with a side of rice. Not the spiciest mapo I've had by a long shot, I will likely ask for extra spicy next time (if they do that). That is not to say it wasn't flavorful though. It was delicious and had enough heat to satisfy most east coast people I imagine, but if you are from the south west... well... I feel like mapo means I should suffer a little, but maybe that's just me. 🫠
Ask around a great experience. The staff was friendly and helpful. They might have been a little bored, so get in there and give them something to do! Totally worth it, and the portion to price ratio was super reasonable for hawaii!
Mahalo for a great visit guys, we...
