Mary Washateria — Local services in Hempstead

I’ve been washing my clothes for a year here & very displeased with the washers & dryers. The owner has disconnected the hot water to the washing machine on purpose to save money without customer’s knowledge. So, when you’re paying premium dollars for all temperature settings on the washer, you’re only getting cold water. The owner was informed of this, but he intends to leave it just like that as long as the customers are ignorant of the fact. Some dryers blow no heat & the owner is hesitant about refunding your money. Do you seriously have time to argue with the owner for $5 refund? Customers Beware!

Follow-up to owner’s response: Stop lying about about that the hot water is set up automated, because you said that one of your workers turn it on when she arrive in the morning, which was not done. Also, I seriously doubt that you set up an automated system to a 40-year old dryer, which is 70% of them inside. These dryers are falling apart; it took me two hands to insert...

I have used this Washateria since moving to Hempstead, over 25 years ago. When our washer or dryer at home would be out of service, I brought our laundry here. Of course it was called Rub a Dub before it closed. I had to use the other washateria when it closed down. The washers and dryers were new and the 3 load washers are only $3 and 4 loads is $4. However, when they reopened under new ownership I came back! There were 2 times I had to use the other washateria and I was treated like garbage by the new hires. I stopped going back there and didn't go back. I was in a pickle a couple of days ago, Mary's was packed and I had to use the other washateria because I had to go back. Just after I loaded my clothes and turned it on the attendants started attacking me! I'll never go back! Mary's owner has always been nice to me and so has the attendants. Next time I have to do laundry, I'm going to Mary's, and if they are packed, I'll wait. Word of advice, dont ever use...

I had the most pleasant experience today at Mary Washerteria. They have installed 2 new 4 load washers and 4 new 3 load washers, all stainless steel and very inexpensive. $4.75 for 4 load and $3.75 for 3 load. Mr. Jim, the owner was there and helped me tremendously. I also had strained my back and he was there to help me. I will be a very loyal customer, due to my experience today. He also helped me get my laundry to the car because he could clearly see I was in pain. You don't see service like that very often these days.
