I took two solid 14k gold thick figaro necklaces (one 35 inches and the other 30 inches a total of 65 inches) in to Main Express Jewelry to be made into 2 shorter necklaces and 3 bracelets. They made a mistake measuring and cut a piece of the chain for a bracelet to long and had to cut a few inches off. They were supposed to attach that piece back into one of the necklaces. They did not re-attach the piece of chain as they were supposed to do. They ended up keeping it about 3 inches of the 14k gold chain from me. Of the 65 inches of gold chain I took in to them they only used 62 inches. I called them and confronted them with how many inches my chains were that I brought in and the total inches I left with. They called me later and said they “found” some pieces of what might be my chain. I went back in and long behold, it was my chain! But it was only 1 & 1/2 inches of the 3 inches they did not use in my necklace or return to me. And to top it off, Maria, the mother, actually tried to charge me an extra $38 for “putting that piece of chain back into one of the necklaces” when they 1) they did not put it back into a necklace and 2) they were the ones who made the mistake. My gut told me that I should have just taken my chains back and left when Maria started jacking me around with the price in the beginning. Oh how I regret doing business with them! Buyer beware!!! The really sad part about this experience is I have been a customer of theirs since they first opened their store (across the street from their current location) in Hesperia. If Maria did this to me she’ll do it to anyone. Document anything you leave with them: take pictures of it, measure it, and weigh it to make sure you get back what...

Yesterday, I took in a small pair of gold hoop earrings stamped 750 which is 18k and weighing 1.61 grams. The lady told me it's 14k and never told me the weight and offered me a little over $30. I asked her if the 750 stamp meant anything. She looked again with her loupe and offered a little over $40. I told her I'll go to another place where they'll be more honest with me.
Yesterday, the price of gold was around $2686. So the value of these earrings is around $104. So even if she had offered around $84 - which would have been 20% less than $104 to cover her overhead, that would have been decent. And I'm being generous with the 20% - in truth, it should be no more than 10% to cover her cost.
The reason I took these earrings to this place was to see how fair they would be - as I have more childhood pieces that I want to sell. I got my answer.
It's funny - they have all this security in place to prevent robbery . . . . in reality, they're the dishonest ones, taking...
