Hickory Foundation YMCA — Local services in Hickory

Hello, my name is Gary Woods I used to be a member of the Hickory YMCA for 30 years. I have seen a video of a pregnant employee (I don't know her name) you have working the front desk. It was very disturbing and completely shocking to say the least. She was yelling and screaming at some of her own coworkers at the Conover YMCA children's facility yesterday between 4:30-5 o'clock. My granddaughter was picking up my great granddaughter that attends that children's facility in Conover and if that is the kind of people you have working at your facilities I must admit me and my family will not be members of either facility going forward. The African American pregnant woman that I've seen working at the Hickory location, made my family feel completely unsafe and don't know if I will allow my great granddaughter to go back to that facility ever again. The child she (The African American woman) was slinging around by the arm had braids and he didn't look like he was in a happy or safe environment either. Since this video is spreading and gaining negative momentum I may have to report this to WBTV to shine light on both of these facilities and how you all condone yourselves amongst coworkers. My wife is a member at the Hickory Foundation YMCA and she absolutely loves it. Good clean facility, awesome staff and great programs for all ages and all levels of fitness. She loves the upstairs walking track and the water exercise classes. She enjoys the Silver Sneakers classes as well. She says the staff is well trained and always willing to help someone who doesn't know how to use a machine or do a certain task. The Yoga classes are excellent. She wishes they had a Tia Chi class. She loves that fact that they offer a class to help people work on not becoming a diabetic and that there is a cancer survivor class that people can attend. She likes the fact that they reach out to the community and seeks to do things for the teens in our area to keep them on a Christian pathway and keep them out of trouble. She is excited to see the final outcome of the renovations taking place right now. I give it 5 stars for her, it has helped her to keep her weight down and she has lost more weight as well. Which is helping her to keep her diabetes well under control. I am planning on joining her there as soon as my Silver...

Today yall lost my membership and here’s why I was leaving the gym and I watch this rude employee stalk these cleaning lady’s waited till they was at the teen center and started raising hell asking them who they where and why they was parking up front they simply told her the teen center is closed and they have to carry large trash bags and she threatened there job if they didn’t move the work vehicle because it wasn’t closing time yet she then turned around and closed the doors early at 8:30 so what’s the reason of making that young girl cry for simply doing her job? I heard her say “We will see about that I will have a talk with Logan” and it’s got to be on camera this part is brand new. She then proceeded to stalk them and antagonize them and I will not spend my money at a place that don’t even respect the cleaning lady’s and that was simply uncalled for and this is supposed to be a Christian Place.
