Read moreI was in High Springs today and needed a couple of things. I zipped in to the local ACE hardware store. Located on Main street. If it's been a while since you have shopped there you need to stop in and see what you've been missing. The new owners have done a great job remodeling & enlarging the place. It is huge inside they have added so much more merchandise that she is busting at the seams. It is amazing how much more they carry and not just one of something, multiples. No more going in and need 4 castors for a project and only finding 1. I spoke with one of the partners Tom and he explained that they had a company come in and figure out how to lay out the addition and use every inch of the store. Not only did they do that but they also kept in mind there customers that need assistance with shopping. They have an impressive selection of STIHL yard tools as well as a certified repair service on the premises. You will find a great selection of Bird feeders as well as Hummingbird feeders. A nice selection of yard flags as well as some remarkably beautiful hanging yard art. The mulch, potting soil, pavers and other goodies are located out back on a freshly paved drive outside. There is a saying that back yard guests are best and that holds true here as you can still park under the shade tree and come in the back door. They now have two cashiers located in the store for your convenience. If you can't find what you are looking for if they can find it in the computer they will order it for you. If it's something that you may use on a regular basis they will keep it on had for you. I am by no means saying they carry everything & though some things might be a little more pricey there, they more than make up for it in customer service. Christina knows that store top to bottom. Be sure to tell her hi. They had 6 employees working today 6! I don't think Home Depot or Lowes has ever had that many at one time on duty. I would rather pay a little more and not have to walk the whole store looking for someone to help me. They have 5 locations. If you found this helpful please remember to click the thumbs up and let them know you saw this post. As always have a...
Read moreI went in and purchased 50’ of southwire 18/7 thermostat wire. At checkout the cost rang up $85.48! It seemed excessive, but I always expect to pay a little more at this store given it’s a small local hardware store and I prefer to support local when possible. When I returned to my truck I looked up the exact same product at Lowe’s to get a price comparison. $24.99! I’ll pay more for local, but I’m not going to patron a store that charges 330% more than what I can get it for down the road. I went back in and expressed my grievance to the cashier who was very sweet and courteous. She called over a radio to inform the manager, Zack, that I would like to speak with him. Zack, who’s customer service is as sloppy and slob like as his unprofessional demeanor and appearance, proceeds to send another young lady to do his job for him and speak with me. Apparently customer complaints/satisfaction and 40’ walks are not on Zack’s list of managerial strengths. After briefly speaking with the young lady and finding out she had no decision making capability, I had to go to the back of the store myself to speak with Zack. I expressed to him my complaint about the excessive cost, that I didn’t want to return the item and that I didn’t mind paying a little more than the big chain store, but I felt like I was being ripped off by paying 3x what I could get it for elsewhere. Zacks response to this was, “he didn’t think the item was overpriced”, “Ace doesn’t do returns on items cut to length in store” (didn’t want to return it, just wanted to pay a fair price for the item), and then states twice that I “was being rude for stating that I was getting ripped off and that HE is offended for me saying that….... but I’ll try and see what I can do”. After that I had had enough. I told him not to bother and that I was done ever purchasing anything from the store again. He responded with “That’s fine!”
So, in the end, instead of just doing what’s right and refunding a portion of the cost, this store will no long get my business for my home or...
