I need to start with a preface to my review. I adopted my Scruffles through OFOSA in Hillsboro, Oregon in July 2023. Part of the adoption kit included a free day at Camp Bow Wow. I took her to the one in Hillsboro off Cornelius Pass. I left a review on that unpleasant experience, and the owner at that time NEVER reached out to me to address my concerns. I encourage you to read that review before you become concerned about the alleged animal abuse that the staff members under the previous ownership have been circulating on social media about the new owner- plain sabotage and libel. I went there the one time and had not taken Scruffles there since. Anyway , fastwarding to the present day, we noticed the entrance to the camp was clean- not a single item of trash littering the doorway. As soon as we entered, we were pleasantly surprised by the cheerfulness and cleanliness of the lobby. It did not smell of harsh chemicals. The staff was awaiting Scruffles' arrival, and they were very welcoming and excited to have her there. I met the new owner, Isel T., and she was fantastic: Professional, friendly and caring. She took a picture of Scruffles. She showed us the monitors to the playroom Scruffles was taken to. Here was the amazing part: There were SEVERAL employees in the play areas. Not one or two, but several, paying attention to the dogs. I decided to take a chance and bring Scruffles in because Isel reached out to me by email, updating me on the new management, apologizing for how Scruffles was previously treated and asking me to give them another chance. I am so glad I did. Scruffles was not stressed when we picked her up. We also got a Happy First Day of Camp certificate with her photo on it- something the staff under the previous management did not do. We will be back next week and in time for their Valentine's photo shoot! I encourage you to think for yourselves. You should know better than to believe the dishonest things you may see on social media. Talk to Isel and give her business a chance. The staff was friendly and attentive. Oh, and they do understand dog psychology. They actually have a dog trainer on site by the name of Daniel. I had a chance to meet him and speak with him. He was also...
Ā Ā Ā Read more5.2021 - I never worry about Betty or Jack when theyāre at Camp Bow Wow. Everyone there truly treats them like their own pets. I love the fact that thereās an app and no matter where I am, I can check in on them and their friends playing. Thai, Katie, and Aiden in the grooming station are rad and I love their energy and how they treat all the dogs as individuals. Camp Bow Wow treats Betty (and now jack too!) like family, and we appreciate them so much for that.
Updated to add: When I originally wrote this review I was a pet parent, but now I am an employee too!
12.10.2024 - if youāve taken your dogs to CBW, chances are pretty good you remember my face, because I was evening front of house for about a year. Well, hereās an update I didnāt want to have to make, but James Nash sold CBW and new owners (as far as I can tell, itās actually the new owners boyfriend) went in the yard and started hitting and kicking the dogs. I have attached the evidence of him kicking my dog to this review. Betty was literally raised at this daycare and not taking her there anymore is going to hurt. Thai and the rest of the crew are amazing and truly love and care about the dogs, unfortunately this behavior AS AN OWNER or someone associated with an owner is not ok and my dogs will not be going back.
You donāt have to listen to a word I say, I donāt care, but watch the video and tell me what you would do if that was your dog, because Iām at a loss.
I used to recommend this place to folks in my current job as a csr at a local vet, but no more. Sniff is amazing if youāre looking for a safe daycare where your dog wonāt get kicked or hit.
The man who hit my dog is still employed at this place. The new owner will tell you heās not, but heās actually her handyman and boyfriend and showing up after hours and being allowed in to the business when none of the employees who witnessed him kicking our dogs are there. The owner chose him over her profit and our pets. Yikes. Another former client told me the new owner is giving huge discounts to people leaving positive reviews, so keep that in mind when you read all these people who are so excited with new ownership.
Betty was NEVER EVER...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy husky has been coming to Camp Bow Wow since he was 4 months old (currently 2 years old.) It has been a lifesaver! We do daycare, training, boarding and grooming all in one place! I was stoked when I found out an old friend of mine, Isel recently became the new owner. Isel has a big heart and 15 years experience successfully running a Camp Bow Wow in Naples, FL. To address recent allegations - I always liked the previous Camp Bow Wow staff but there was always a sense of how young they were and running things with zero owner presence, often short staffed. There were issues like not being acknowledged when we arrived, confusion on billing or staff on their phones (instead of watching dogs.) Once I bought a coupon book for grooming, only to find after I paid $50 that it expired the next month (which made no sense, how am I going to use ten nail trims in a month?!) Or my friend who booked an appt online but was turned away when she showed up for the interview bc the previous staff were unaware. So when Isel bought the camp and was suddenly a constant owner presence, I was thrilled to see someone invested in the business on site⦠and quite frankly I think the previous staff didnāt like the oversight. When there was an incident (I would hardly call abuse) where they were short staffed and someone that was not well trained was in the yard, the staff basically brought torches and pitchforks, were unforgiving and felt compelled to tell every customer that walked in about the incident (which personally came across very unprofessional since this was the small business that was paying them.) So the staff were let go and I think it was super justified, as they essentially made it their mission to run the business into the ground. I am super excited for Isel to start fresh, with a new staff and build a successful business here in Hillsboro. My pup worked with the trainer Daniel today and was groomed, he looks and smells great! Already the changes are evident by the clean lobby that smells so good and hands on staff! I encourage anyone to check them out and give them the chance they most certainly deserve, as a Latina owned business in Hillsboro! Cheers to...
