Ok, please forgive me if this review runs long! Where is it? 1012 Grand St. Hoboken, NJ. It is in an old warehouse that runs from 10th St to 11th St on Grand. You want to use the entrance on 10th and Grand St. that is adjacent to the tennis court. Hoboken Billiards, also known as Hoboken Golf, is on the third floor. What is it? A place where people go for four recreational activities: Golf, table tennis, board games, pool tables. It is BYOB for beer and wine. If you leave your alcohol at the front desk, they will refrigerate it for you. I go to shoot pool so that's what I'll talk about. They have a monthly membership program for $95/month. If you're there eight hours or more per month it is cheaper to become a member. Rates are reasonable, low actually. There is free popcorn and free bottled water. They are happy to host parties and larger groups of people. Hours: Sun thru Thursday, 11 am to 10 pm. Friday/Saturday: 11 am to 11 pm. Open seven days a week. Equipment: A. Four Golf simulators - you can go from teeing off to the last cup on the eighteenth hole. They sell golf equipment also. B. Four tennis tables plus one table with an automatic robot that serves the ball to you so you can practice your returns. They sell table tennis paddles, balls, tee shirts, etc. C. Every board game known to man and plenty of tables and chairs to set up. I don't know what they do or don't sell in this category. D. Pool/Billiards: Eight Brunswick Gold Crown tables(nine by four and a half feet), three small bar tables (seven by three and a half feet). They sell sticks, cases, and gloves. I was not impressed with the quality of the pool paraphernalia for sale. Reasonable rates, plenty of room, tables and house sticks in good condition. Food: They have snacks and entrees. I was impressesd with the french fries( ask for them extra crispy, trust me on this), and the lasagna. I was not impressed with the chicken tenders or the mozzarella sticks. There are three bathrooms, but one of them seems to have often have an 'out of order' sign on the door. If you are getting a Lyft/Uber to or from Hoboken Golf/ Hoboken Billiards, you are better off using 10th Street and Grand Street as the address. If you use 1012 Grand Street as the address, you will have issues due to the way Google mapped the streets. Your driver will keep showing up to Grand and 11th Street instead of Grand and 10th. Staff: friendly, helpful, and...
Read moreI played in a Sunday morning 8-ball tourney that only 12 players came out for. Fargos ranged from mid-300 to 625. Mild R4 races. Good 9 foot tables (four are Diamonds with challenging pockets. The rest, I believe, were Brunswicks). Some tight spots when shooting off of the short rails close to the walls. Several tables are due for new cloth. The vibe of the place is relaxed and fun. It's not strictly a pool hall at all: they have two coin-opp bar box games in the board gaming and Top Golf area upon entrance, followed by a bowling alley section and ping pong, with the pool room in the back. The owner and staff...
Read moreTHE GOOD: the staff is very polite and welcoming, the place is near the light rail station and you get to bring your booze that the staff offers to keep chilled while you play and they even bring it to your table. The fries were good and paired with our own beer, it was a great combo. THE BAD: No bad experience with the billiards or the place. THE UGLY: Nothing at all. WORTH REVISITING:...
