I hate to write a negative review of a small local business, but I was very disappointed by my visit to Paint a Pot.
I have done paint your own pottery several times before at several different pottery studios, and really enjoy painting pottery. Compared to other pottery studios, the green ware selection at Paint a Pot was underwhelming (plates, bowls, coffee cups- nothing really exciting like figurines or piggy banks), and the selection of paint was limited (no specialty paints like chalkboard paint, matte paint, speckled paint, etc). I planned to paint an intricate pattern on my pottery piece, and while the store had fine tipped dispenser bottles, the paint in them was all dried up and the girl working the register refused to refill them with new paint (telling me I would be better off painting my intricate patterns with a brush).
All said and done the painting experience was average, but the real reason for my negative review is how the piece I made looked when I picked it up. The piece was missing clear glaze in several large spots on the back, and when I asked if it could be re-glazed and re-fired I was told that they didn't know whether that could be done and the employee who would know wouldn't be back in the shop for a few days. In the past, I have had pieces re-fired at other studios when a spot was missed or the glaze chipped (so I know it is possible) and I was extremely disappointed to have the piece I worked so hard on damaged during firing with no guarantee it...
Read moreFound this spot by accident and what a happy accident it was! I was with family and we were looking for girls day activities. I was happy to learn we didn’t need reservations and they could accommodate 5 of us at one time. The location was great. The studio was adorable. The hostess was very informative and super warm and welcoming. The atmosphere was great for bonding and expressing creative ideas. I don’t think any of us anticipated how much time we would need to complete our project but we were told if we were on a time crunch- which we were- that we could return the next day to finish painting. We were in from out of state and didn’t have the ability to return the next day so we finished. It was still super fun and we can’t wait to get our items in the mail. This will be on our list of things to do every year when we return for our 1 week family vacations. This is definitely a must try for a cute mid afternoon date, a date night, or just some afternoon fun with...
Read moreHad a horrible experience here and will never be returning. The reason for my negative review is that the staff made us move not once, not twice, but four times to accommodate other parties! What ever happened to first come first serve? I understand if they had reservations which the others did not, so my husband and I were extremely inconvenienced during our paint time. So where did we end up after all that, the hallway…. If your going to move people around, please have appropriate accommodations that don’t require a small folding table in front of the kiln room, then being inconvenienced again so the staff can enter said room multiple times… overall I think this place needs to relocate to a more appropriate sized store if it wants to accommodate that many people, or reservation only so that everyone can be comfortable while they paint and not have their customers treated as an...
