Special ordering through Menards has just been a total nightmare for us. Both times, we have had so many issues and it has just been an incredibly frustrating experience. The first special order wasn't as bad. We ordered some flooring and they had given us one wrong box of flooring, and we were told we would get a call when the flooring arrived, but we never did. We had to call the store. When we went to pick it up, no one seemed to know where it was.
Special ordering the counters was the worse experience of the two. We were told so many times that we would receive a call in regard to certain points within the process to be notified of information, but of course this never happened. We were the ones who had to call each time to find out information. We were told our order had been placed, however upon waiting a while and hearing no word, we called and found out the order actually hadn't been placed and that some of our measurements were input into the order wrong as well. When we received our new estimates with the correct measurements, we were charged a different amount when told another price, so we had to call about that and eventually received a refund. After we were notified via email that the counters made it to the store, we drove all the way to Menards only to find out the order never made it to the store. We were livid because we live roughly 40 min away, and Menards is the closest home improvement store to us. We were told we would get a call when they arrive.....and of course, guess what happened? That call never came. When we were finally able to pick them up and tried installing them this weekend, we found out we were not given everything within the kit that we were supposed to receive in order to install the counters, we were missing multiple backsplashes, and they did not measure out the counters correctly because they shorted us on the measurements. It took about two months to receive our counters when they told us it would only take a couple weeks. I spent over $1700 on these counters, and I wish I never went through Menards, because now we have to go back and sort through this mess. I can't even begin to describe all of the emotions we are feeling right now. Never again will I ever special order anything through this store.    Read moreFirst, I need to say I love Menards! I have loved it from the moment it first opened up in Holland. Perhaps because it is filled with possibilities for my house and yard. Typically this store has everything I need, plus more. I think their prices are fair and rebates (if you send them in are great even if they are gift certificates back to Menards đ¤) are great. Today I bought four fence panels and stakes to go with them. Also bought an anvil pruner from Fiskers. I was even asked if I had any questions which was very nice. I didn't, but thanked him just the same. Pulled into checkout lane and quickly got checked and paid with my rebate gift certificate (good for me I remembered to do the rebate... actually my husband did đ). I returned home to find the stakes, although they work with the panels, are not the longer ones that were available. I wanted extra length so if my dogs jump against the fence the fence panels would be more secure. I have big dogs so this is important. I know I won't have any problem returning the stakes because they are very good about returns. AND if you don't have your receipt you can look it up on a computer they have that is easy to use. I wish more stores have have this. You probably are wondering why I didn't give Menards 5 stars. It comes down to the typical customer service I receive in their garden landscaping department. Today was unusual. I was offered assistance, but didn't need any. Nice just the same. I think Menards needs to work with their staff on customer service. Typically I can find what I want. If I can't and ask a worker if they have anymore they tell me no and leave. The other situation I run into time and time again is the lack of consideration to help customers when they are loading heavy purchases onto their carts. I will be loading 15 bags of wet mulch and the workers will pass by and even congregate to discuss something and there is no offer. Maybe I should ask, but I get angry and then stubborn. I have seen this with other customers too. Menards was very good about this before, but over the past several years I have seen a decline in assistance. Other than this complaint I just love Menards. My family and I just had the most confrontational situation with the man who ownes the delivery service that Menards contracts with. Granted my father was not happy with his delivery skills and made sure to tell him so (he tried bringing 20 foot deck boards horizontally down our wooded driveway and when they didn't fit he left them by the road for my husband to spend 30 minutes hauling each board to the house). Anyway, as soon as my dad told him he couldn't believe the service he was giving us, the man threatened to take everything ($2,000 worth) back to the store. When I ran after him to convince him to please deliver the rest, he was acting as if he was doing me a favor. When he brought the rest of the supply's down the drive, he once again became confrontational with my dad (now both of them cursing each other out) and I actually thought he was going to throw a punch at my 68 year old dad (meanwhile my 2 year old was witnessing all of this). That's when I stepped in and got angry that he was speaking to us like that. I don't care who you are, the customer is always right and no matter what type of customer you deal with, you should always act professionally (especially when you're the owner of a delivery service).
