Tried the food challenge. The food was amazing and so was the service. Prices were great, too.
Southern Slam Challenge - $30: As stated in the menu, “Twelve eggs, American cheese, onion, sausage, hash browns, and topped with a layer of sausage gravy served with hash browns, toast or pancakes. Meet this challenge and you'll receive your omelet at no charge, a free T-shirt, and your picture on our Southern Slam Wall of Fame! No Sharing (not available on Sundays or Holidays). Eat this enormous omelet in 45 minutes or less and it is on us!”
There are a lot more than a dozen eggs in this omelet (I’ve eaten two dozen before). There isn’t a lot of hash browns. The sausage gravy was really good and helped it go down smooth. A lot of people seemed to favor the pancakes, but I chose the toast and this was SUPER helpful to break up the monotony of the flavor fatigue. Bring a bigger spoon if you can.
The taste was great and helped a lot. The sausage gravy was not too salty but still flavorful. It was probably my favorite part.
It was a lot to eat, but I finished in just under 30 minutes and got the meal for free with a T-shirt (they didn't have my size, but gave me a smaller one for now and will call me when one arrives). The server said the challenge was 8lbs, but I'm guessing 5lbs.
The WHOLE restaurant, servers and customers, cheered and clapped after I finished, which was really cool and deeply appreciated!
My friend had the Breakfast Bowl with the sausage gravy and pancakes. He enjoyed it and the experience, too.
I saw one of their cinnamon rolls and they are HUGE!! I mean MASSIVE! They pour on the icing generously, too.
Service: Amazing. Our server was super helpful and cheerful. Everything we asked for was taken care of faster than I could have expected.
Atmosphere: Lots of dutch heritage, but with a small mom and pop restaurant feel. It was a narrower building, but still enough room for everyone. There was a bit of a wait as there appeared to be a lot of demand for their good food.
Conclusion: HIGHLY recommend this place. There is so much to talk about. The food is amazing. The service is wonderful! The prices are very decent (by today’s standards).
I want to go back for more of what is on their menu. I particularly want to try their burgers and country fried steak.

Read moreAbsolutely disgrace! You can't make this up, eggs cooked like rubber and same for the sausage! The gravy tasted like water and a pinch of flower. The cheddar which by the way costs $.75 even as a replacement. If I were you, steer far far away from here if you wish to save your stomachs! The corn beef and hash tasted like they literally went to Wal-Mart and bought a can of it and threw it on the grill. Its definitely not home made.... As for the hashbrowns, they didn't even cook them thoroughly... Seriously dont waste your time or you hard earned money here!!!! You will regret it!!! However, the waitress here was an absolute doll, she treated us kindly and promptly and with respect! She also kept apologizing for the way the food had tasted... So, take my advice and run!!! Run away from here!!! And also this was my first time ever being here and it will DEFINITELY...
Read moreIt's not worth the hoopla. After a 30+ minute wait, we were seated on a not so nice clean table. My side was sticky (syrup) I ordered the California Omelet, and my husband ordered the omelet with asparagus. We were very surprised that potatoes are not included in the serving. They offer them as a choice. My husband chose pancakes, which were very dry and I chose rye bread. Our meal took a while to arrive when it finally came, we were very disappointed. The omelets had no flavor, not enough salt or pepper. I understand they offer those on the table for people to use as needed, but the food should be salted and seasoned before cooking. The amount we paid for the breakfast was the lowest we've paid in a long time, but I guess you get what you pay for. On the other hand, our waitress was very nice. I did enjoy the...
