Dissatisfied with owners lack of customer service skills. My 10yr old son begged me to take him here on our way in to Hollister. He wanted to see if they traded or purchased cards. So I took him & he was super excited. He packed up his favorite cards in a case & when we arrived, he asked if he could take them all down. I told him no & to just choose 3 to take in, in case they didnât buy/trade (because I didnât want him walking with his case in the store).
We got there around 11:30a, we were the only people in there besides the owner & a nice man who was vacuuming. My son asked the owner if they purchased cards, the owner said yes, but only the ones theyâre looking for. He didnât even want to look at what he had at first, saying âI just donât want to look at a whole bunch of cardsâ My son put his cards back into his pocket, when the owner saw that it was only 3 cards, he asked to look at his cards.
Then again said âyeah I just donât want to look at a whole bunch of cardsâ like heâs not in the business of selling cards or anything like that đ. Yes maybe say that to an adult, but to a child?
I am so happy I did not let my son take down his case of cards because he wouldâve been more crushed not getting any of them looked at. He was so discouraged walking out of there, not because the owner didnât buy any of his cards, but because he felt as though the owner didnât take him serious because he was a kid. My son felt as though he just didnât want to talk to him. He quickly handed my son a paper of cards theyâre looking for.
When we walked back to the car, my son told me he had a good amount of graded cards that they were looking for in his case, and I asked if he wanted to go back in to show him and he replied âno heâs not going to want to see them since I have them in the case with a bunch of my other onesâ.
Again, itâs not because he didnât buy anything. My son knew there was a high chance that the place didnât buy/trade cards. Weâve gone to card stores to sell, & heâs been passed up a couple of times, so thatâs not new to him. What was new to him, was an adult treating him like he was wasting his time.
The only reason for the visit was for my son, itâs safe to say we wonât be returning.
Some advice: be mindful of how you treat children, they are next generation...
Read moreAnother local card shop with crazy above market prices, please do your research before going into this shop. Your better off getting better prices from marketplace, bill is a rude guy especially when you question his prices which I totally get as a business owner but that comes with it. Customers shouldnât feel guilty for asking questions, on a positive note he does have a good variety compared to the other local card shop in Hollister but I wouldnât recommend going into that shop. Better off trying your chances at target or a local restock....
