I purchased a pair of lovely embroidered cowboy boots from here on Aug.13 and noticed an option to tip the sales associate. This struck me as odd because why should the consumer be responsible for paying an employee. Often when businesses offer tipping options for non-traditionally tipped jobs, it's because they are underpaid. Then, after engaging whoever runs their Instagram about hourly wages for an upcoming sales associate job, I recieved the following disrespectful and unprofessional responses from the owner. Not only is this disappointing because I merely suggested their business practices were unethical. This suggestion prompted the owner to get defensive and insult me by asking: "Have you ever applied for a job?" and then blocked me from their account. The same account which, on Saturday happily posted me with a purchase of my boots. Again, not an unhinged customer. In short, I do not feel comfortable returning to this shop. I realise business owners often manipulate these reviews to defend their businesses against seemingly unhinged and disgruntled customers, but in all honesty, the clerk who helped me was lovely and my boots are adorable. However, I urge the reader to come to their own conclusion about if they would patronize an establishment with labor practises such as these, and an owner who speaks to potential applicants in this manner, similarly implying, without context that I have no customer service skills, or relevant skills for the position. When in fact, I am a small business owner myself, and a legal historian with three degrees. But I digress.
I have posted our correspondence, the businesses excitedly posting my purchase, and their subsequent blocking my account after questioning their unethical...

And not expect or ask for a tip. Unless, you, the customer, desires...
