Nice venue and great show but was quite taken back by the bar. Visited for the first time last week and I ordered a mocktail which I asked to be tarte in taste. Bartender proceeded to make me a mock tail which consisted of him just pouring a couple of sweet (not tarte) juices into a cup. Ok, I get it, I’m at a bar and you don’t feel like making me a drink that is nonalcoholic. So I walked away and dealt with the taste for a few sips before tossing the full drink in the trash. the bartender told me my total was six dollars for the drink and I tipped a dollar. I signed my tab at a total of seven dollars, took my card and went back to the concert area. Today I was looking at my credit card statement and discovered that he decided to give himself a much more generous tip and my card was charged $15 instead of $7. I signed out my tab directly after I received this juice from a can so I did not leave my tab open or authorize him to charge me $15 for a glass of juice. I typically don’t leave reviews but it is appalling to me that this bartender did this. This is stealing and just morally wrong. Not about the juice but the principal. I Called my credit card company and reported this in hopes this transaction will be adjusted to the CORRECT AND AUTHORIZED amount. Check your credit card statement after leaving this...

The good: Great artists. Decent sound and acoustics. Comfortable seats with excellent sight lines. Convenient location. Lovely restored building. Smooth and friendly pickup of ā€œwill callā€ tickets. The bad: Was asked to leave mezzanine seating area shortly after show ended (Monty Montgomery, 8/9/2018). Confronted employee about directive and was directed to speak with ā€œmanagerā€ downstairs. Employee spoke with manager before I arrived downstairs. Upon meeting the ā€œManagerā€ and as I started to share my experience, I was asked to leave. I proceeded to walk out the front door and to ā€œadd insult to injury ā€œ, manager asked security to escort me out. I’ve never been asked to leave a bar, restaurant, theater or any public place in my life. Completely bizarre, unexpected and ā€œoff the chartsā€ inappropriate response and behavior on the part of the manager. I didn’t raise my voice, nor use profanity and only consumed one adult beverage which was before start of show. I’ve only experienced this kind of behavior in the past from people with mental health challenges and/or drug abuse problems. My suggestion to the Ownership of this theater is to take a good look and consider other options for this position. Looking at the other reviews, it doesn’t appear this is an...

Very cool place in Houston, if you like good jazz, independent rock, classical music, or events that are out of the ordinary. You get the great vibe and connection with the performers thanks to the size of the place, that is just big enough, but not too much. I enjoyed the Al di Meola concert that was breathtaking thanks not only to one of the best guitarist in the world on the stage, but almost spotless live mixing - they used the plexiglass divider walls for the drummer and percussionist to get the best mix without distortion and bleeding. I have also to mention the bartenders, that didn't fuss to give you free water bottles, which in other similar venues they sell for $7.00! Yeah, the only downside was the lighting of this show, that wasn't appropriate for this type of music and artist. Constant flashing color lights into the eyes of the audience is good for disco or pop, but not the jazz/rock/latin/classic, which goes to the lighting director, but I assume there was just somebody that hit the AI button, automatic setting. I don't mind automatic at all, but the group had its own projection themes, that were good enough. The parking is on the street, but you get the parking for free. Great music...

The Heights Theater continues to shine as a premier live music venue in Houston! Seeing The Altons there was an absolute treat. The atmosphere of the theater itself is just fantastic – it's got that perfect blend of vintage charm and excellent acoustics that truly enhances the live music experience. From the moment The Altons took the stage, the sound was crisp, clear, and filled the room beautifully. Beyond the sound quality, the layout of The Heights Theater offers great sightlines from just about anywhere in the venue, which is always a plus. The staff were friendly and efficient, making the whole evening feel smooth and enjoyable. There's a real sense of intimacy in the space that makes you feel connected to the performers. The Altons themselves were incredible, and The Heights Theater provided the perfect backdrop for their soulful sound. It's the kind of place that just feels right for a band like them – a classic venue for a band with a classic vibe. If you're looking for a memorable night out in Houston to see live music, keep an eye on the lineup at The Heights Theater. It’s a gem, and catching a show there is always a fantastic experience. We can't wait to go back!

Beautiful Building and nice sound; unfortunately concerts here are an absolute fiasco. Rather than assigned seat numbers, seats are first come first serve general admission, meaning that you get tons of people leaving single seats in between their groups. If bless you are there at doors, don’t expect to sit with your party. Additionally, the show I attended was severely oversold, meaning we couldn’t get the seats we paid for and were instead left standing in the aisle. Venue is okay for events, absolutely terrible for concerts.
