I’ve only been to the Heights Library a few times because the hours don't always mesh with my schedule. While in Dallas, some jerk broke into my partner's car and stole my backpack which had my car keys brand new laptop and you guessed it, LIBRARY card. I went into the branch that is now closest to our house which is in the Heights. The librarian was extremely helpful and canceled my old card while creating my new one. While this Library does not have a vast selection of books, videos or audio, it makes up for it in atmosphere, parking a staff that are willing to go out of their ways to help citizens. Read moreBuilt in 1925, this library building, an architectural gem, was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984. Stately live oak trees grace the front entrance. In his books and interviews, Dan Rather tells how visiting this library as a youngster opened his eyes to the world. There is a sense of history.
The staff is friendly. The stacks are well organized with a nice selection of fiction and non-fiction. They have a nice display of new books. It definitely has a neighborly feel. I like the new conveyor belt scanner system installed in June 2025 that automatically checks in books.

Read moreI decided to visit Heights Neighborhood Library because I saw a review that claimed “peaceful library to use the internet” I walked in, asked the black security woman a question, answered my question rudely and mean. The folks with children were also rude to me when I did not give probable cause. Negative energy like that is what disrupts peace and rottens environments.
