I was getting my FJ serviced and I wanted to get an estimate to get it repainted. I called the collision center around 4p to see if there was anyone on-site to do estimates and asked when I could come by, I was told there was someone available to estimate and I could come anytime before 5. I got in my car and headed over, got there at about 4:20. I verified with service that someone could come and estimate the paint jobâ the service department is exemplary, btw.
I arrived at.collision asked if I could speak with estimator to get costs. The front desk person disappeared in an office, emerged 5 minutes later saying my FJ had to be on site to be estimated. And by on-site, they meant parked in front of the collision center. I went to service, paid for services rendered so far and the service tech joined me to the collision center. I arrived with the FJ on their site, in their parking space. I asked if an estimator could come look at my car. I was given a form to fill out. I filled out the form and the front desk person disappeared in the office again. 5 minutes later she came out and said no one could look at my car. Itâs 4:40. I was leaning to leaving my FJ there for estimate in the morning, but I wanted to point out a couple areas to consider in the estimate. The front desk person was pretty rude, said no one was free, didnât even check if anyone could take a couple notes. She then gave me an estimate of 10-12k, which she wasnât qualified to give, without looking at my car or understanding my request. It was incredibly disrespectful to me and my time. The Service tech was as stunned as I was. I took my form back and wonât be using the collision shop! Holy cow,...
Read moreChose Don McGill to repair my vehicle's bumper and tailgate when I was rear-ended in late 2023. Ronny was my assigned estimator and was super helpful and informative throughout the process. Unfortunately, the attention-to-detail was a little lacking-- as when I received it "completed", both the chrome exhaust tips and make/model badges were missing. I noticed the exhaust tips missing the next day and Ronny was apologetic and helpful in getting the vehicle back in the shop to put on the missing tips.
However, it wasn't until recently when someone pointed out that the car was also missing the badges too. I understand that I have a portion of responsibility to inspect for these things and that it's not safe to assume that a even a "certified" collision center wouldn't have missed something like this.
Truthfully though, the most frustrating part of the whole experience is the customer service and lack of consultation when you try and call in for information or follow-up. The folks at the front desk (primarily someone named Angel) are often dismissive or straight up rude. I've been told multiple times that they will "pass along the message" or "have someone call you back" to no avail. The best answer they seem to be able to provide to inquiries about your vehicle (even for an issue as simple as "missing model badges") is "you're welcome to bring the vehicle in during business hours and we can take a look".
As a customer, it's frustrating the limited information they're able to provide unless you go out of your way to drive 45+ minutes to bring the car in for...
Read moreWorse experience ever. Avoid having your car brought at all cost. This ordeal lasted over 4 months for me. Somehow my car was towed here without my consent. Probably some kickback deal they have with tow truck guy. Needless to say they had no paperwork for my vehicle or way to contact me. After a week Iâm finally able to locate my vehicle. I initially ask how long the repair would be. They would not give me a straight answer claiming the claims specialist needs to look over the damages. ( scratches on the qtr panel and tire) ok fair enough. Fast forward 4 months later I finally receive my car back. It wonât start. And rear tire is flat. My childâs car seat is left unbuckled in the rear. They could have told me it was unbuckled and they didnât didnât know how to buckle it. I contacted them weekly during this time. My âspecialistâ Alex was never in. And promised messages were left for him to call me back. Its disappointing this is what Don McGill calls service. No apologies. No explanation. Do yourself a favor and take your...
