Edit#2: the pictures speak for themselves, Zoe. The level of detail you gave is absolutely not worth $300, especially after it taking a week or two (for sloppy, lazy work) and the placement is nowhere close to the pic I showed you. And I'm not the only person you've replied to about "posting a story that isn't true." And I'm sure you've seen multiple reviews where a client said you were rude. Take the feedback!
Edit #1: I downgraded the review now to 1 star, because every time I update it, the artist replies that "the story I portrayed is not true." Zoey, every time you comment on this post and ignore the feedback (where multiple people have now said the same thing), I'm going to add MORE detail and MORE pictures. So go ahead and keep responding, and being rude. You are only making yourself look bad. (Her comments get deleted when I update. She's come back multiple times to repost and say my review isn't true.)
Look at the pictures! This is $300 worth of "design" and it looks terrible!! This "artwork" is garbage. She obviously has talent, based on her insta, but just couldn't be bothered to do ANY level of detail for $300!!!! LAZY!!! It was supposed to go under my collarbone and it's not even remotely close to being in the right place! The "artwork" is sloppy, the placement was terrible, and the artist is rude. It's a mess that does not resemble the design we talked about. It actually contained several elements that I specifically said I didn't want. Zoey does not listen to her clients.
Also, as mentioned in another review, she was talking crap in Vietnamese, and it was obviously about me, given the few words that were said in English ("peony, cherry blossoms... How? How??") So she obviously had no idea how to make the design I asked for, but couldn't admit that. Also, Zoey, you should know that people have apps to translate languages now... So people know what you say about them! It's rude! Original: Very disappointed with my experience at this tattoo shop. You have to pay $50 just to talk to an artist and tell them what you want. They refused to make the consult appointment without the $50 being paid in advance. Is that normal??? Then I paid another 250 upfront for her to work on the design, and for me to come in and look at it when she was finished. Okay. It's reasonable to compensate the artist for their time. But when I came in to see the design, it didn't look like what we had talked about and I didn't like it at all. We tried to adjust and modify, but it didn't really help. I wanted a flower 1/4 sleeve like she has on her insta (Zoey), except with cherry blossoms instead of peonies. The design she "drew" was basically a copy/paste of the inspo pic I gave her. It didn't seem like much of a custom design, just copy/paste, copy/paste to make more flowers. Not at all similar to the sleeve pics I showed her. Trying to modify it only made it worse and it became a jumbled mess.
So now I'm out $300 for a design I don't like, with an artist that didn't really listen to what I wanted.
We talked about shading to give depth to the flowers. I asked her about that, because the design she "drew" didn't have ANY shading, and she actually LAUGHED at the idea that the $250 design would have any level of detail and said "what the hell?". She literally laughed in my face. It was incredibly basic, and not worth what I paid.
Waste of time and money. DO...
Read moreMy friend and I were in town for vacation and wanted to get tattoos together. We looked around Instagram and loved Zoey's fine line work and booked appointments. I will say the outcome of my tattoo was good, hence the two stars. However, there is more than that needed to give a decent experience. When we entered we weren't greeted at all, just told to show the text proving we had an apt. I did and the woman said "what do you want". I said oh I have a few pictures for reference but was hoping to talk to the artist and get their input on the final design. She said "that's fine, but what do you want". So I showed her the picture and she did a mock up on the computer. I asked again if I'd be able to talk to the artist to get her input (as we were here because we really liked her work) and she said "yea I'm your artist". I had no idea, as the sign in the reception area said the receptionist checks you in and gets your design and then brings you back to the tattoo and she hadn't said anything to us when we came in. So I asked for her input and she pretty much didn't say anything. She made the minor change I asked for (two waves instead of one) and said nothing else. I picked the size and eventually went back for the tattoo. When looking at the placement, I initially had it placed where I thought I'd want it and she put the stencil on. However, I then noticed the design was crooked. I told her this and even used my finger to show her that it veered off and wasn't straight. She said no, it was the placement. I really didn't think so, but I tried a few other places and continually it was crooked. I kept saying this and she said no it wasn't. So with the help of my friend, I changed the placement entirely to try and help it look better. Yes- this took time (maybe 10 mins) and she pretty much just stared at me the whole time and didn't offer any help or try and make it better. I felt super awkward and uncomfortable and kept apologizing (even though this is a permanent mark on my body and I should be able to ensure it won't look crooked) and she just said "it's fine". She completed the tattoo without saying another word to me. After, she didn't put any cooling gel or anything on it. I waited while my friend got her tattoo for about the next 30-40 mins. She then directed us to where to take a picture where she then put on some cooling gel, but I quickly realized it was just for her picture and then she roughly wiped it off with a completely dry paper towel on both of our freshly tatoooed skin. She did then put a wrap on it. Oh- and for a 2 inch tattoo, 10-15 minutes of tattoo time, and horrible treatment the cost was $180. Again, I will give credit where credit is due and it does look nice and we got the fine line work that we wanted, but that is horribly over priced.
We aren't from this area, but even if we were we would never, ever come back or recommend. If someone is paying you for a service, especially something like a tattoo that is permanent, you need to treat them with at least an ounce of kindness. I am not new to getting tattoos, this is my 5th. I have never experienced such awful treatment....
Read moreZoey was rude, unprofessional, and completely unhelpful in the design process. If youâre looking for someone to collaborate with or give you advice on your tattoo, DO NOT go here. She won't do any prep, won't answer basic questions, and will leave you frustrated, designing your own tattoo with zero guidance.
I went in with a solid idea of what I wantedâbased on a floral armband tattoo sheâd done beforeâand even sent reference photos and notes ahead of time. I wanted to tweak the design by adding a different flower and making some adjustments to improve the look. When I got to the shop, it was pretty clear that there was no preparation. She was asking basic questions Iâd already answered, like "will this be on one side or a full sleeve?".
The design process itself was a nightmare. Anytime I asked for her opinion or thoughts on what looked better, she would not provide it, like at all... I was hoping for professional input during the tattoo design part of the process but she completely refused to engage. Iâd ask something like, âWhich of these two details do you think works better?â and sheâd just bounce it back at me without giving any advice at all.
On top of that, she was very impatient and dismissive. Multiple times, when I asked her a question, she just sat there staring into space or on her phone for 5 seconds before snapping back with a âWhat?â. Other times, she straight-up ignored me even though we were sitting right across from each other. It was uncomfortable and highly stressful, and since she wasnât helping at all. It's like she was expecting me to design the entire tattoo completely by myself, which I'm clearly not qualified to do.
Eventually, after I asked another question, she told me she couldnât tattoo me and asked me to leave. She said I was taking too long, asking too many questions, and can't make up my mind. Honestly? That was the best part of the whole experience. I was already panicking about how bad the design process was going, and Iâm sure it wouldâve shown in the final tattoo.
Bottom line: If youâre looking for a professional who will collaborate with you and help bring your ideas to life, donât waste your time here. They donât do any type of consultation, wonât offer any input, and leave you to figure it all out on your own. It was a horrible experience from start to finish, and I canât recommend this...
