Keemat Grocers — Local services in Houston

Tight competition for the WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE IN HOUSTON. The service was barely acceptable until served by a lady with spectacles and a helper with spectacles (don't know their names). Horrible attitude (don't know what for) and go and @shop somewhere else mentality. This cashier made us to lift the heavy sack of rice on the table so that she can scan it, anyone else would use a handheld scanner and do scan from the trolley. WATCH OUT FOR EXPIRED FOOD ITEMS. Spend a minute to look for expiry date before you pick packed food items if at all the pack has a printed date on it. We got spoiled food a few times, some where expired some not. THE FOOD IS NOT CHEAP AFTER ALL THESE. They price most items bit higher than other Indian stores. We stopped shopping here after last days unprofessional service from the old lady cashier in spects and the helper in spects. They crushed the vegetables and dumped the items senselessly and laughed at as when we rearranged vegetables in one bag and frozen in another bag. Good luck with this horrible service if you...

ZERO stars. EVERYTHING is old in this chain of grocers. Whether it’s the kidney beans, murmura (bhel puri), biscuits.

How do I know? Rajma took 2 nights of soaking + 10 whistles on gas stove AND still HARD as rocks!!! That tells you how old their stock is.

Bhel? Stale as if it were from the 90s.

You name it. Everything overpriced & not fresh. Disgusting.

The story of Keemat: it was opened by a single businessperson in the 90s, whom we personally know. He sold it after sometime. However, when he was running it, it was fantastic (as is his current store in the Hillcroft area of another name & 0.3 miles away from this store). So please do not think THIS current ownership of Keemat has been there since the 90s.

Beware of their purposeful “7 day return policy.” You’ll know why if you ever buy from here.

Never visiting this chain by accident again. There are def better stores for Indian groceries in the area. Good riddance!

Hilcroft location , rude dishonest manager, rotten items, expired products an they dont even listen to you. If you need Indian grocery , go to any shops (there is plenty around) but not here!! It happened to me many times , i kept going back because it was close to my house. I have had cookies that went bad and when i told them they said to bring it back if next time it hapened, So next time when again I got a jar of pickle totally rotten, i took it back and the owner misbehaved with me and said I must have broght back a years old pickle. When I showed the receit, they denied saying once the item is sold its owner responsibility. I also saw one lady just gt out from the store and her plastic bag torned and broke the stuff she bought. The plastic bags are so low quality, couldnt take the weight and they keep stuffing as much item they can in one bag.The store manager denied to replaced her item saying she was responsible for it. I will never go back...
