Saffron Kabob House — Restaurant in Houston

If you want authentic afghani food, DO NOT go to Saffron kabob house. I am a foodie and try atleast 2-3 restaurants on a weekly basis. Below are my obaervations Price: ok, comparable to surrounding afghani restaurants in the area Portion: small, compared to Kabul cuisine, chopan & shinwari. The portion is half the size of comparable restaurants in the area Taste: absoloutely NOT authentic at all. I tried these dishes(rating based on having tried the authentic food in theregion + local restaurants) kabuli pulao(2 star, its not even close to what original kabuli pulao taste like. The closest to authentic is from Kabul cuisine) chapli kabab( 5 star, taste very close to peshawar region but too thin ans dry) , manto( 7 star), afgani nan(3 star, too hard) I did tell the Customer service about the portion of order and they just laughed away without adressing it properly. OVERALL, I WOULD SAY THIS IS NOT AN AUTHENTIC PERSIAN FOOD PLACE BUT A MIX OF AFGHANI AND PAKISTANI CUISINE. with some minor changes i think they do have potential to change that prospect....

This was my second time coming to this restaurant. The inside was completely upgraded and nicely finished when compared to the first time I visited this place several years ago.

We ordered the Chapli kabob plate and Naan. All the food was delicious and fresh. The kabobs were nicely seasoned and not too spicy. The wait staff were friendly and helpful.

All you bloodhound Muslims who ask a store owner about their Halal status and then begin digging into the certifications and source of the halal meat and what method was used to sacrifice the meat and whether or not Bismillah was mentioned before the blade made contact with the animals jugular.... I leave you with a Sahih Hadith.

I just had one of the worest experience in food industry. I ordered chicken kabob and the amount of rice they get you with the kabob is so ridiculous! It's so little, and when I asked to put a little bit more he charged me $6 for extra rice!! Then I ordered hot tea and it was the eorest it was a hot water with barley any yea in it! The tea color was not even red or black! It tasted water with sugar! And while I was drinking tea the server came up to me and said hey are you paying now! Where is the hospitality! I am like i am drinking the tea let me drink it first! And on top if that the server barely spoke any English! He cant even say black tea! It was one of the worst experience! I will never come back! Thanks gd there are lots of kabobl restaurants around. I don't recommend any one to go there. And not to forget, the server lady was rude she never smiled she was looking at me with...
