9/1/2020 - My negative review was immediately responded to by the corporate office/owner and they asked me to call so that we could resolve this issue. After complying with their request for supporting documents, they immediately reissued the check in my name and even hand-delivered it to my house! All within a few days. Furthermore, it was explained to me that if a resident passes away, any refunds are payable to the resident because of estate/inheritance issues and their exposure to liability. This explanation made sense to me and I understood the reasoning. Because my friend never took possession of the room, and because it had only been a day since I wrote the check and my friend passed, and I provided proof of the origin of the funds, in my case they made an exception. I was very grateful since I didn't have to wait until my friend's estate was probated to receive the funds paid on her behalf. I felt Watercrest treated me fairly and was very timely. And because of this, I'm changing my review because it truly is a lovely place, they were very accommodating and I believe my friend would have loved her room, having her cats with her and the beauty and aesthetic of the building and grounds.
In all fairness, I had a good experience working with Jamie on behalf of my friend who needed Type B assisted living facilities which Watercrest offered. Jamie was able to get permission for my friend to bring her two aged cats to Watercrest with her and for that I was grateful. So as my friend's Medical Power of Attorney, I completed the admission application and filled out all the required paperwork. As such, I signed all the paperwork with my friend's name, then mine as her Medical POA. However, I wrote the $1,000 deposit on MY personal bank account, signed with MY name, and in the memo put my friend's name and the room number. THAT night my friend passed away. I called Watercrest the very next day and advised them that my friend had passed. Jamie told me that since my friend's move-in date was within a week, they had already cashed my personal check and Watercrest would have to reimburse me (ME). No problem. Then almost 2 weeks later I received a check for $1,000 payable to MY FRIEND. When I followed up with Jamie, she said I would have to talk to their accountant, Nicole. Nicole said absolutely NO WAY could they reissue the check to me. Doesn't matter that it was my personal check. Doesn't matter that my friend was deceased and it wasn't made payable to her estate. Doesn't matter that it'll take months to probate my friend's estate to get reimbursed. She could not give me one accounting rule or IRS prohibition that stated WHY they COULD NOT reissue the $1,000 check to me. Mind you, this place charges ~$3,700+ per month for each room/apartment/residence. And it's a huge complex. Nicole was rigid, rude, condescending: she's been doing this over 20 years and has NEVER reissued a check to the payor, always to the deceased (well, maybe there are special circumstances - like you had my check less than 24 hours!). She said reimbursement checks have ALWAYS been made payable to the deceased person, blah blah blah. I am so angry right now and because Nicole treated me completely unprofessionally, irrationally, rigidly, and without compassion for no apparent reason other than "that's the way we've always done it." Now I hate this place and wouldn't recommend it. Sometimes money gets tight until all the finances are squared away. But Nicole, the accountant - for whom there is no one above her to discuss this situation with -...
Read moreI am so sorry to have a need to write this review because we really enjoyed our stay at Watercrest of Kingwood. My wife and I were guest at this location. I, recovering from heart surgery and my wife from several recent hospital stays. It's a wonderful place, safe, quiet and has great employee's. We moved into our apartment as the previous guests were moving out. We had to wait while they finished their move out and the maids cleaned the apartment. When leaving, we gave notice as required and turned in our keys and security fobs (2 with $100. deposit each). We were told we would receive this deposit back in 10 days to 2 weeks. It is now 10 weeks later , and for some reason the business manager, Lindsey Leflore , refuses to return the deposit. I have called and left messages been by the location but she will not come out to talk to me, sends message via front desk that she is investigating it. I finally called another location and was told they always return the deposit with i two weeks. I finally sent her a message to tell me if she was going to refund the money , if so when, if not, why, still no answer. I had no other choice but to write this review. This is a great place, just has a difficult business manager for some reason. It's not a lot of money, but it's my money.
2/25/25 Another month, still no money! Got a phone call asking if I had received the check, of course I have not received their check, if I had I would have cashed it! When moving, I left my new address and ph. number and mentioned I was only moving a short distance away and could stop by and pick up the check if they wanted me to, if the check had been mailed to this address I would have received it. all of this for $200.

Read moreI cannot say enough good things about this facility. Debra, Kim and her team are amazing at caring for our loved ones as they age. My dad lived in their assisted living for 4 years, and I felt so comfortable with the care they gave him. First off, the longevity of the team is amazing. You can tell that they take care of their employees because many of his aids were there for multiple years. I was never ignored with my requests or questions to them. Even though I could not get there as much as I wanted to, I always knew he was well taken care of.
If you are looking for a place for your loved one. Look no further, this is a perfect place to call home! (Please note, I was not asked to post a review…this is all...
