The first year of living at Westchase Creek Apartment was great. The management was alway helpful, and overall the living situation at the complex was agreeable to the point where I decided to renew my lease for another year.
However, going into the second year of living in this community, I would not recommend anyone to live here unless they have no other choice. The first issue I've noted is that unlike last year, I dealt with roach infestation which despite multiple calls from pest control did not get solved. I am not sure if it is because the neighbors I have now are more dirty than the previous ones. I had to buy my own roach kill kit because I am not sure if pest control was even doing their job. Now the issue is under control for now.
The complex seems to not want to repair or replace anything if it cost too much money. I submitted multiple work orders regarding my windows being not properly sealed and all the maintenance person did was just add calk to the frame. It did not fix the issue with the leak I get when it rains, or the bugs infiltrating my apartment. It also did not help with my inability to open the windows which is an issue in itself. On top of that, the apartment is poorly sealed hence how the roaches and other bugs are able to enter my place despite having a clean space.
Valet trash seems not as consistent but I figured that it seems to be the case for most apartment complexes since they do hire an external company for the job. The internet, xfinity, which the complex forces you to use is always down. I would get outage at least 2 times a month. Not ideal when you work from home like I do. And they tend to take a long time to fix the issue which honestly is cumbersome. Also for anybody who is a gym person, you can only have access to the gym from Monday-Saturday 9-5pm so unless you are unemployed or work from home and can do your workout during lunch time, you might look elsewhere for amenities. Same can be said about the mailroom being locked after 10PM so you cannot get access to your mail/package anytime you want. Not sure what is up with that.
The last issue I would say that I have with management is the lack of notice they give to their residents in regards to repairs, pest control visits and else. Recently I was notified that the water and electricity were going to be shut off due to repairs but they only sent the notice after the fact. Did not have room to make the necessary preparation to make sure I am not impacted. Their notices about timeframes were erroneous and basically made all the preparation needed useless. Due to that fact, I was left with no water, no electricity, in my building, and when asked for goodwill to at least help with the spoiled fridge food as I had done some grocery shopping the day before. Now it is all spoiled. No accommodation were given to residents in my building. I was not able to work from home, cook, sleep with the AC. Which is unacceptable due to how humid and hot Houston is. This was the last straw and I decided to leave this review. I already was on a fence to renew my lease when the time comes. Now it is a definitive that I will not be staying here in the future.
If you want to live in an old but inexpensive apartment with lack of amenities, this is the place to come to. As long as you can deal with the landlord special and very short notice when it comes to maintenance repair, and the roach infestation, you are better off looking to lease...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have lived in 2 different units at Westchase creek so my experience is as truthful as it gets. Westchase creek apartments would be a lot better for the residents if they had a better quality maintenance team. The maintenance team has done the bare minimum since I have been here, I thought to maybe give them the benefit of the doubt that my initial experience wasnāt the best but at the second unit the experience is no different. I donāt know if they are taught to perform like that or if they just really donāt care about doing their best. Anybody can come in and throw paint over damaged areas in a apartment. Again this is my second unit at the complex & upon moving in after a few days I noticed dirt that has been painted over in places like the bath tub, the walls, the base boards etc. Nothing is actually disinfected & cleaned before you move in at least not properly. I literally had to scrub my bathroom floors, walls, tub. The same with the kitchen, the refrigerator, the stove, the hood over the stove, the floor, the windows, the blinds were all dirty Iām talking about brown/black visible dirt from the previous tenants, the dishwasher was gross. The cleaning team/maintenance team had not touched these areas whatsoever. What ever they did do as I mentioned was covered with paint. I mean who wants to move in & clean someoneās dirt it was disgusting but I have a newborn baby & we canāt live with someone elseās germs. The floors, the carpets were not properly vacuumed like I said in a few days you start to notice things left in the corners of the carpet, old parts of earrings, paper clips, hair pins etc. the list of repairs that I sent to the front office was extensive almost 15 different things did not operate properly in the apartment from water pressure, broken porch light, freezer was not getting cold, my peep hole was dirty unable to see through it, toilet constantly running water never stopped, no cable connection in my room even tho a cable package is included in the rent, chipped damaged mirrors, mismatch washer & dryer. The dryer has to be from 1970ās or 1980ās idk I was born in the 90ās but I know it is super old. Like why even have that in peopleās apartment? Itās 2021. These apartments are charging tenants at least $800-1000 per month. They could show a little more care in what they give the residents, if the leasing personnel are truly doing walk thruās before the apartment is ready for move in & effectively inspecting the units I would not have had 15 things on my maintenance request that needed to be repaired. The parking lot has pot holes in the front that has been there for 3 years that I know of, itās probably been longer before I moved in they are still there & itās a shame. The complex needs to have more dignity in their duties, this is peopleās home where they come to everyday & itās not fair for it to be treated with a lack of care. Iām sure the residents here are aware that these are not luxury apartments but a little more effort towards the property goes a long way they are old so they need care. The leasing office has ongoing activities for the residents such as games or whatever but they need to put the same energy into repairs & they donāt, the leasing staff is nice but management needs to be more proactive as far as the condition of...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOnly have been here a little over a month and already can't wait for my lease to be over. For starters, the apartments are OLD and not kept up with on the inside (outside is debatable, alot of flooding on sidewalk; they need to work on their drainage). As soon as we moved in, almost everything started to fall apart. Sink in the second RR never really drained well and now will not drain at all. Dryer takes 3-5 times ran to actually dry the clothes. We put in a work order for it to be fixed, maintenance came in and out in 2 mins (Thanks to footage on my ring and Blink), not doing a thing to fix it. The shower rod fell as soon as I put up the shower curtain, maintenance came and hung it up again; just for it to fall again as soon as I touched it. Needless to say, we just got one off of amazon and installed it. The drawer in the fridge was broken and requested for it to be replaced as soon as I turned in my inventory sheet, needless to say its yet to be done. Door jamb is rotted and painted over just like the moisture bubbles and cracks . Speaking of cracks, there are huge gaps and cracks in the walls so that would explain the roach problem. We are lucky that it isn't that bad but we see one here and there and that is enough to call it a roach problem/infestation. They didn't seal/caulk a lot of areas properly so this feeds into the infestation issue. I feel like I was bamboozled into renting here because my rent was A (per welcome letter) and I'm paying B, which wasn't explained to me during the app process. I was told to either choose plan A or B, and we thought that was it. We did not foresee the additional fees because again this wasn't explained. Office staff went from super friendly to rude. One occurrence was wanting to set up an appt for maintenance so that I could be present during repairs (since they don't do crap) but they told me that wasn't allowed, when it clearly states when creating the work order if they have permission to enter or if you'd like to set up an appt. Another occurrence was our first month's rent. I was being charged for water I never used (I was only there for 2 weeks, they were charging me a month's worth). When I inquired about this they basically said, in not so many words tough š©and that I had to pay. So please do not be fooled by their welcoming false personality. The apts are not worth their market price, I'm paying more than my mom does for her 4x3 house in Humble! The only nice thing I can say about it here is that its super quiet, Considering it's Alief that is miracle. It also helps to be behind those million dollar homes so that could have something to do with it. UPDATE Norma the mgr came by and addressed all my concerns regarding my apartment immediately. Almost a year in and I have no complaints. It is super quiet like mentioned, there will be parties here and there but itās a rare occurrence. Pest problem is nonexistent since they come weekly if requested or mandatory every couple of months. Parking is still an issue, a lot of nonresidents park in the resident parking. Other than that considering itās Alief, I have enjoyed our stay so far and even renewed our lease. Thank you to Norma for addressing our concerns...
