We waited 7 years for new countertops, and when we met with Pablo we thought we would stay local and help him build his reputation. Our first set of countertops were installed with perfect measurements as the contract stated. The only thing missing was the routed edge on the bottom. Having both edges routed costs $50 a square foot and the product installed with only one routed edge costs $40 a square foot. We paid $50 a square foot for both edges routed with 25 1/2” deep, which gives the 1 1/2” overhang that Pablo recommended. With the unrouted bottom edge, Pablo decided he wanted to replace the countertops and give us what we paid for.
When the 2nd set of countertops arrived, Pablo’s installers noticed that the overhang was not the same all the way around. The discrepancy is a 1/4”. His installers did the best they could trying to stay to the 1 1/2” overhang leaving the 1/4” gap by the wall. We will now need to fur out the wall when we add the backsplash.
Pablo gave us 2 options... Take the countertops and cut the depth to 1” overhangs, which we did not think it was a good idea to lose more material in case there was another mistake. We accept as is and he will throw in a piece from the first set of countertops for our new pantry. We took this offer so we could he done with this and move on. The added piece he promised just needed to be cut to a shorter length. Needless to say, the piece we got did not have the original routed edge with thw bottom unrouted and it was shoetwr than 25 1/2” depth.
We would not recommend Gallery 77 because when my husband told him to install what the contract said, and Pablo’s response was “you’re going to play that game”. We soon realized that the contract did not mean anything. We went against our better judgement and paid him up front as he demanded all in good faith that he would keep his promise to cut our stone to the measurements in the contract. He also did not deliver the correct added piece as promised. Our 3rd option to have him take his countertops back and refund us our money was not an option he would consider.
Pablo’s wife came out and tried to explain that the variables are the walls and the cabinets. I can tell you through pictures, viseo, and his installers that the 1st set of countertops were perfect and our walls and cabinets did not move in a 3 week period of time. She told me they used the same laser measurements, but cannot explain how the depth is incorrect.
We would recommend that you go with industry standard and pay 1/2 up front and don’t pay the other 1/2 until product and installation are finished...
Read moreRemodeling made easy. We searched all over the twin cities for our granite, and then for an installing contractor. On a whim, we stopped by Gallery 77 and met Pablo and Suzanne. What surprised us was that they actually had granite slabs that we were able to view at his shop and then he held them for us till our plan came together. The whole process was professional, and to our surprise, at about the time when we expected to hear the price was going up, Pablo informed us that the actual measurements were less than our drawing showed, and he dropped the price to reflect actual square footage. Once our cabinets went in, measurements were prompt and the stone was cut and installed in about two weeks. The install quality was high, as the seams are barely noticeable, and the fitment was perfect. Additionally, Pablo has an eye for good looking color combinations. He helped us select from a wide variety of tile backdrops which are all available at their shop, a sink which matched our tile, and even helped select handles for our cabinets which match nicely with the rest of our decor. Thanks Pablo and Suzanne for...
Read moreWhat luck! We searched all over the cities for just the right stone, design, and service he had in mind. We saw the Gallery 77 ad in a magazine and drove to Hudson late on a weekend afternoon. We met Suzanne and spent most of an hour talking about the stone and the way we use our kitchen. She was patient and thoughtful ,and sent us home with half a dozen chunks of stone to think about. We were back in Hudson two days later to look through the great collection of slabs in their warehouse and talking with Pablo about how the slab might be cut and positioned. From there on, it was easy. They made sure we understood pricing, the work that had to be done, and when they could deliver the countertops. The final installation looks great. "77" is a terrific business. Personal, smart, honest, precise, and customer centered. Top notch!
