My wife and I do not think that Southeastern Salvage is a reliable company from whom to purchase products not immediately available on their property. A friendly staff and unique stock keep them from getting one star.
In March, we ordered an area rug at a reasonable price that was on display. We we’re told to expect a call alerting us to the rug’s arrival in about 4-8 weeks. In June, we realized that we hadn’t received any word and made a follow up visit in person about 10 weeks after we made the original order. The staff, although friendly and apologetic, were taken back by the age of the purchase order, assured us they would immediately get to the bottom of the delay, and update us as soon as they could. We were no in particular rush and their sincerity rang true. In August, 20 weeks after the original order, we still hadn’t received any follow up of any kind. We reached out to them again. Not only was there no new information, but the staff was again shocked about the delay, that our request for information in June went completely unnoticed, and knew nothing about our original follow up. We received assurances from the management team that they were on top of it and that we still had a rug on the way. Two weeks later, the rug arrived without explanation for the delay. During the pickup, the staff again were cordial and helpful. I had a short conversation with Dave, the head manager, about the experience and asked if they would be able to extend us any discount on a future shopping experience to give them an opportunity to restore trust in doing business with them. He explained away our poorly managed transaction by pointing out that no one guaranteed us a rug within 4-8 weeks. Although accurate, I let him know that had we been told to expect rug in about 6 months, we probably wouldn’t have purchased it from them. Whoever manages their orders clearly doesn’t monitor the age of purchase orders or follows up when delays occur. It appears that they do not care to be a reputable business that is concerned about customer satisfaction or retention. If you make a special order with them, I recommend weekly follow ups to receive your purchase within a reasonable period of time. During our wait, my wife came across the same rug at the same...
Read moreS.E. Salvage has an amazinging variety of goods including furniture, pottery, nic nacs, lamps, and garden supplies including trees.
I wanted to build a retaining wall for a raised garden bed and originally considered railroad ties but, with advice of the sales lady, they were actual ties and not the decorative version. Also, very heavy at 200 lbs each.
I decided to go with decorative wall blocks and the price was way cheaper than the big box stores. A pallet of 144 pcs ran $233.87 with tax. Similar concrete blocks ran over $300 to $500+ at other stores.
The blocks measure 11.5 x 6.75 x 4 inches and weight 10 lbs each. Total weight of 1400 lbs was within the load capacity of the truck. S.E. Salvage loaded the truck.
I've included a photo of the loaded pallet and a close up of a textured block. I may update the review with a finished wall but it's too blasted hot to work on it right now.
Thanks to the helpful staff at S.E. Salvage. I will definitely be back.
Update 10/15/21: Finished building the raised-garden wall which measures 8-ft x 16-ft by 12-in.
The soil was purchased in bulk and delivered by Across The Pond. The price was reasonable and the staff were very helpful and courteous. The delivery truck was able to directly fill the garden after removing only the top few stones for clearance.
Really looking forward to planting flowers and vegetables. Now my task is deciding...
Read moreThe Manager there, heavy set male, was so rude. The inventory is off in so many ways. They told me they had the tile and then after I paid, the sweet guy came back and said that he had made a mistake. The guy offered to have it shipped to me from another location and the manager said “absolutely not”. He had already made me mad after he had gotten on to an employee up front and yelled at them. I paid with a check and the girl put the wrong state from where my license was from, which made it decline. He went on and on about how I must be in the system for bad checks since he didn’t know the girl had made the mistake. He was very embarrassing to me and I had a client with me. They figured out the problem and he didn’t even apologize. Savannah, Assistant Manager needs a raise and a promotion. She was awesome and knew I was frustrated. She found the tile for me, called to verify and got me what I needed. Someone needs to get a handle on inventory. I’m sure you are losing money daily. As a Business owner, I know how important...
