Econo Lodge Inn & Suites Huntsville University Area — Hotel in Huntsville

Booked a non smoking room. When I checked in it was around 8pm and all I wanted was to get some sleep after being on the road for a while. A younger Indian man with a heavy accent was at the front desk. They have thick glass separating guests from front desk people. I could hardly hear him and he could hardly hear me. When I went to the room it reaked of smoke and burn holes all over the bedding… I saw an ash tray so immediately knew it was a smoking room. I went back to the front desk and told the guy that I needed a nonsmoking room. He said that I said yes to a smoking room when I checked in. I said I didnt recall him asking me and on top of that I can’t hear you through the glass.. the heavy accent didn’t help. He said he couldn’t move me that I would have to pay more and that I already went into the room. I pulled out my phone and showed him my booking that it was a non smoking room… he continues to complain on why I would say yes to a smoking room.. at this point he just wants to argue over his mistake. He said he had to go make sure I didn’t use the room… so I sat and waited. Finally he comes back and gives me a new room. This guy has no customer service. People like him should not work the front desk. No thank you, no sorry for the mistake, just an Attitude as if he’s doing me a favor… will not stay at this place again. Ontop of that there is whole bunch of creepy looking people walking around. I got stopped by a guy who asked me for money pretty sure he was looking in the cars… there was also a whole bunch of girls in one of the rooms standing outside.. I’m pretty sure they were prostitues. The place is just a mess. The only good thing was that my new room was clean, floors are sticky but at this point...

was driving cross country with my husband. We booked a room which the manager was very accommodating with because I booked a smoking room.She charged it for me.Unfortunately our TV had a problem so she was kind enough to switch our room.It was getting late so instead of putting our stuff in the room all we did was check to make sure the TV worked and went for dinner. We came back and backed our car in because we had two bikes on the back and even though we had them locked,we wanted to not bring so much attention to them.All of a sudden a black man stepped out from the dark stairwell and stood across the car and just stared at us.He wouldn't stop! Then we shut the car but locked all the doors hoping he would go away,but instead he stands right behind my car and was just waiting. I told my husband to go drive to the office because this guy is a threat. So as we started to drive he started cursing and following us. I jumped out and ran in the office to ask for help and then I hear my husband fighting with him and I panicked. I didn't know if he had a weapon and we were not in our neck of the woods.The worker told him to leave or he would call the cops but the man said we stole his daughters bike! He kept insisting and threw the race card in saying we weren't being nice because we were white, but he really wasn't in his right mind.He sId he knew our car and was coming back for it so of course we didn't feel safe staying there.As we looked for another place we saw this guy walking the the next hotel in the area called the Bamma INN. THANKFULLY, the manager returned our money the next day and it wasn't their fault but no one deserves to encounter that especially when they are...

We had reservations here. Upon check in was informed that the TV in our room didn't work because they didn't feel like getting it done. They said they would take off $30 off the price. They told us to put any of the towels we used in a pile...that they didn't wash towels if they were folded up. Ugg. Then said if there was a stain left on any towels they would charge $5 each. In the room the toilet rocked when u sat on it. Behind the bathroom door there were spots that had been plastered but not painted over. The floor was wood look vinyl planks. I took my shoes off for the night...and my feet literally were black on the bottom from how filthy the floor was...yuck!! Went to get the coffee maker tray from the top of the closer and the whole tray was filled with water...there was even an electric outlet next to the tray..so very dangerous. We couldn't use the pool they advertised as available for use that was locked and we could not access. And at one point in the evening there were 3 police cars that were there. At checkout they seemed to completely not care about our complaints. And later found out they didn't give the 30 off for no TV...stay away from this place..the place should b shut down. Our reservations were made here due to limited options..as this was where we were family to let my granddaughter go onto Florida to visit with them. It was the worst night ever for me..as I barely slept and had to get up and drive 6 hrs to get back home. If I could give 0 stars I would do that! STAY AWAY...
