Beautiful store but unfortunately, my experience with the owner left a very bad taste in my mouth. Not only were there racist caricatures, dolls, and statues prominently on display in her stores but she also defended the use of the word G*psy, which is a racial slur for people of Romani ancestry. I mentioned this to her, assuming perhaps she didnât know any better. She told me that she lived in England for 6 years, and because they didnât use the same terminology, it was ok. She told me, âI donât use it in THAT way.â To which I said, of course.. I donât think you did, which is why I brought it to sour attention. To many within the Romani community, the G word is on par with the. Use of the N word, no matter where in the world youâre from. I have friends in England and all over the world of Romani ancestry and they told me the fact that this Owner doubled down on her defense of it was abhorrent. Ironically, she has an entire section of her store dedicated to the sale Tarot decks - tarotâs history is heavily Intertwined with the oppression and discrimination of the Romani people (past and present), and the reason Romani are so frequently cast out of places and forced into the traveler lifestyle. My hope is that this owner can sincerely think about her use of this word and change to something less offensive. No matter how trendy and romantic the notion, no matter whether she uses it âthat wayâ, she is knowingly profiting off of a word and culture and perpetuating violence that has existed for...
Read moreI bought a clock yesterday but when I got home it required UM sized batteries. Took it back this morning and we tried a AA size which looks like it will work but it also needs a AA9V which I looked for last night and this morning and could not find. I had bought this clock less then 24 hour and brought in my receipt. Was told I could only have store credit since I had used a card to purchase. I am NOT from this area so store credit is not ok. No one explained this at time if purchase and it is not noted anywhere on the receipt or at the counter. I am going to call my credit card to see what I can do. I asked to speak to store manager and left my number but no response. I would give this...
Read moreSo first off, I was recommended to go here by the ladies at Coyote Exchange when I told them I was thrifting for the day from Vegas and I was not disappointed at all! Definitely a bit different from Coyote Exchange BUT I loved the way this store is set-up. They have A LOT things and I liked each little area thatâs set up except the crazy expensive clothes upstairs towards the back. Donât let that area discourage you though because they still had super cute affordable things and because Iâm new to the area, I asked for a recommendation on where to get food and the nice cashier recommended a local restaurant which I felt was super supportive of her towards other...
