We bought a dining room table from Down East recently and I am so disappointed with the quality. The first day we used it, I noticed scratches on the table top. A few days later I was wiping off crumbs and the finish wiped off as well. There are now several spots on the table top that are lighter than the rest of the table. The edges have chipped and crumbled. The knots in the wood have chipped out. I pulled out one of the leaves and there was obvious water damage. I contacted customer service and they said they could not do anything, that it was just expected wear and tear. The top has continued to scratch easily and has water spots from just small spills that were quickly cleaned up. We have used the same dining tool table my parents received when they were married in 1980 for the last 15 years of our marriage and it is currently in better shape than our two month old table from Down East. I understand we have kids and things happen, but this is beyond normal wear and tear. This is obvious poor craftsmanship. The kind of quality I would expect from Shein. I am so sad we wasted our hard earned money me spent years saving on this table. I understand business are struggling and the economy is not doing well, it makes me sad to leave a horrible review, and I can honestly say I rarely leave negative feedback for businesses. Read moreI love DownEast! Employees always greet us when we go into the store and I love all of the items in the store. I have noticed that certain things in the store, are not online to view, which is disappointing because we have a smaller store so I am sure not everything can be displayed. Currently, I have an order placed with DownEast, was told I would get 2/7 (I cancelled a trip to accommodate this and rescheduled it to the end of the month.) Then my order got delayed again to 2/28 (cancelled that same trip). Second trip I have cancelled and now I am being told my order was delayed to 3/13 and an employee actually said they wouldn’t be surprised if it got delayed further. That is over a month that I will be waiting on an order. It is even more frustrating when I am being bounced around from the 1-800 number to the store and store employees are literally telling you they have no idea what is going on or they can’t find a certain paperwork, etc.-very frustrating. I don’t have a truck, I make arrangements to have someone help me pickup items, when asked if I could change to delivery and pay the delivery fee. Read moreI have had the worst experience with down east home. We ordered a table set in February. We got the bench right away and they told us the table would be delayed until May which we agreed to because the majority of our company comes in summer. The bench they gave us had rocks or something jammed in the bolt holes preventing me from putting it together properly. I called the store and they offered the floor model, which we took, but we paid full price for a BRAND NEW table set. I called customer service and they said they would get back to me to see what they could do. No one ever called me back. I just received a text for the fifth delay of our table which is now not expected until September. We have been living with a Costco folding table for five months And now will have to wait a couple more if it doesn’t get delayed again. I understand supply chains have had an impact with covid but I wish they were more forthright at the beginning of our purchase because I probably would have selected something else that would be in stock sooner.
