Van Kampen's Inc — Local services in Idaho Falls

I used to LOVE this place. The man that used to help us was so kind and knowledgeable and I loved shopping local. My last experience here was so disappointing, though. A friend and I came in and had our small children and from the second we walked in, the older woman working there made me feel so unwelcome and uncomfortable. We did not let the kids get on any furniture but they were being toddlers and were noisy and had to be continually monitored to keep them off things. She followed us very closely and maintained a look of extreme irritation, answering my questions with a clipped tone, and letting little noises of disapproval slip when we had to correct the kids’ if they were trying to touch something. We left after 5 minutes or so because she made us feel so awkward. I understand small children can be annoying in public given that they haven’t learned how to regulate themselves yet, but I am on top of my kids’ behavior, and beyond that, I was in a family furniture store to purchase a couch for my family - which includes my children. We bought 2 new sofas and 2 oversize Flexsteel chairs. We love them! The fabric is plush and comfortable. Cushions are firm yet cushy. The wait for them to be made was worth it. Everyone who helped us was on top of things. It came on week they told us it would and they we're Beyond Wonderful to work with. We had them delivered and got to know them a bit. They are a family owned shop with a very friendly staff. The carry high quality furniture and flooring. We replaced the flooring in our entire home a few years ago and we have been very pleased with the carpet and hardwood that we found at Van Kampen's.
