I have to add a third addendum. Iāve been going back since the quarantine and whoever was being rude wasnāt there. Everyone is super nice again, Cindy loves it, and I highly recommend it. Though, my vets donāt recommend a raw diet. Im not sure why itās so popular. Since dogs have been dogs, not wolves, for the last 10000 years, theyāve been eating our food which is cooked. So Iām not sure why this raw diet is so popular. Thereās a reason why we cook our meat and the same reasons apply to dogs who have evolved right alongside of humans. ...just my unsolicited opinion.
Second review: 3 stars, MOST of the staff is so nice there and deserves five stars, But thereās this one lady there who has been so rude that Iām not going there anymore. I think she might be the owner just because sheās so bossy. My dog loved going there so much. When it was time to get her treat there, she would walk back around the side of the counter and get her treat from the ladies. They always talked nice to her, made her feel really special, and she would rather go there into the beach. Weād done this at least once a month for a few years. But this other lady! She told us Cindy wasnāt allowed behind the counter and tried to make Cindy stand up on her little hind legs to get her treat from the other side of the counter. Cindy is a Pomeranian Chihuahua and sheās had both ACLās replaced so she canāt do that. And she wouldnāt give my dog a treat without making her sit. I donāt make my dogs sit for treats. They donāt jump. Cindy canāt really. Sheād just stand there, still, happy and waiting. Iād say, ā I donāt make her sit to get a treatā. And sheād say, āShe really needs to sit firstā. Giving me dirty looks about it. Excuse me, but thatās just a cultural trend. She was completely calm, not misbehaving, and trying to do what weād been doing all along. After three almost identical experiences with the mean lady, we stopped coming. And I was a GOOD customer! I spent 400$ per month there on my three dogs, every month. And I went there because it made Cindy happy. Now I get my stuff on amazon for way less money.
Sorry Cindy!
Since itās been more than six months since Iāve been there, this may no longer be an issue. And if you donāt have to deal with the mean lady, you might love it here, as we used to.
I apologize to all of the other really nice people who always made Cindy feel special. Thanks for that.
Old review:
Iāve been going regularly to this pet store to get my dog food and other supplies ever since I discovered them when I move to Imperial Beach. I went to another pet store in Imperial Beach and they were just not friendly. I felt like they avoided me to not have to do work and they were irritated with my questions. When I walked in to IB pets, they immediately made me feel welcome and they went out of my way to answer my questions and help me. They greet my dog. And I say they because Iāve been there many times and Iāve had the same experience with all of the staff. This is a great pet store and I highly...
Ā Ā Ā Read morepretty nice store. i had never been until today. i had an emergency and had to take my kitten a couple doors down from this store, but didnāt have a carrier for him and needed one, especially since i was taking him on the bus. an hour before his appointment, i stopped by the store to get one. the lady was kind and helpful, but the cardboard carrier i purchased as a temporary carrier was pretty much destroyed and unusable within ten minutes of having him in there. the handles tore from the weight, and my kitten managed to force his way out of the box. i ended up having to carry him by hand AND the box, which contained a toy and my jacket for padding. stopped by the store again a minute before his appointment to purchase an actual carrier. a bit disappointed because it was $16 down the drain that i canāt get back. i found out a few minutes ago by searching the box online that the instability of the box, and itās ultimate destruction, was because it was folded incorrectly in the store. i had no idea. if anyone reading this gets the cardboard carrier, please look online at pictures of it folded so you can fold the handles correctly. the way they have them in-store is not stable and will tear if you attempt to carry an animal in there. my kitten is four months old and doesnāt weigh more than maybe 4lbs. just be careful. thatās $16 wasted, and then $44.99 for the normal...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI came in to decide what size food I would like to start with while transitioning with my dog. I usually like to buy smaller bags and buy as I go for the freshness. One of the ladies from the counter went popped out to have a conversation with my infant and asked us if we needed help. I told her it's just us deciding on the size as we have a specific space and we don't want to have the large bag sitting for a month +. She just gave us a weird look and went on about buying an airtight container that is for the large bag for the food. I told her we just want something small for an area that we have for our dog.. he literally lasts three weeks on each bag and she then would mention "since our space was small" but in a tone that wasn't too friendly. It just feels invasive to have someone put in their two scents and if you don't follow their advice that they just give you weird looks. It's just insulting and I never had that experience with the IB pet store on Telegraph. I only came here since the food was sold-out there. I ended up just getting an Amazon subscription for every 3 weeks and we will see how it goes. I use to give my dog raw and we are trying something else out and just want to give him...
