Grocery Outlet — Local services in Imperial Beach

Update... I purchased a Yoplait greek yogurt there about 2 weeks ago. I brought it for my breakfast at work and the stupid thing expired August 11, 2017. Today is September 12, 2017. Going to request to speak with the management next time I visit. Really urks me knowing that Wally's gets a bad wrap for their expired food and now these guys are doing it too... Can we just get reasonably priced food that's not rotten in IB?? GRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!

I have lived in IB for over 5 years, and with the limited grocery stores, I was very excited to hear that Grocery Outlet was coming to town. I visited the store a few days after the grand opening and was impressed with the selection and prices. I was disappointed in the size ( my room mates said the same thing when I asked them about their first trip) which was pretty small for a grocery chain. Since opening, I have shopped there maybe 5 times. Each time, there are changing inventories understandably so. Good items sell fast at a good price. The one major disappointment that I have is something that the grocery store directly across the street has had a bad wrap for.... bad food. I shopped at Wally's (across the street) for years, and only a couple of times had to take something back. Not super thrilled with a bad chicken or moldy bread. But now, I have had 2 things so far that I have purchased from G.O. that have been very close to expiration and no good. Today I grabbed my pineapple fruit cup. 2 packs for $3, great deal! But when I opened the fruit cup, I noticed that each little piece of pineapple had parts turning swollen and white... I checked it out, and the pack expires in only 2 months. Don't those things have a decently long shelf life? Anyways, I checked online and the white is a sign of the fruit going rotten. It also smelled slightly alcoholic, so I tossed it. I will still shop here, but now I have to be careful and look at each item's expiration date. If you shop here,...

I am usually pretty satisfied when shopping at Grocery Outlet Stores. I called the grocery outlet in Pacific Beach to find out if they had an item that I couldn't find near my home. The associate (Megan) said she would hold the item for me as long as I came to pick up today. I drove from Lemon Grove, CA to Imperial Beach to pick up the item. Upon arrival, I asked for Megan and asked for the items she had on hold. She said someone put them back and took me to the aisle to look for them. The items were not there and she said "sorry". I asked to speak to a supervisor (can't remember her name), said "sorry" we should get another shipment in on Wednesday. I explained to her the situation and told her how far I had driven to get there. She continued to look at me confused and said there was nothing they could do. Horrible customer service, trying to help me find another store or maybe asking if they could contact me if the item was in the Wednesday shipment. Any kind of help would have been appreciated. I was offered NONE. I will not be back to spend my money at this...
